  2. Have to Agree with you Veronica Must be at least 5 star - Good Drying Facilities - Private Onsen would be nice. Been a bit spoilt after Banff Springs, Chateau Lake Louise and Niseko Park Hotel.

  4. I'm already on my way to the airport my bags were packed the day I booked the trip I was just waiting for the first DUSTING!!!!
  5. Oh I hope I'm not peaking to early just got my ski's, boots, pants and jacket out!!!
  6. HOW EXCITING!!!! First dusting of snow. I don't care if it is a dusting on the top of the mountains IT IS THE FIRST SNOW FALL!!! First dusting in September will mean big dumps by February BRING ON MY HOLIDAY!!!!!
  7. I'm with you MB LOVE vegemite and potato crisp sandwichs, nothing better than fresh bread vegemite and squashing crisp chip sandwichs YUMMY Yeah wonder why I can't fit in my pants anymore!!!!!! Oh heres another bizzare sandwich for you a friend of ours has fresh bread and sultana's!!
  8. KF I bought my ski's when I was in Canada, I have since used them in NZ and when I went to Japan. I had no trouble with them but then on the other hand I also have NO IDEA!!! I was going to hire some powder ski's when I was there if required but didn't need to. There is a large ski shop in Kutchan that actually had really cheap ski's for sale. My suggestion is take your ski's and if you need hire a pair see what you think. If this is your first trip to Japan you will be addicted so don't worry if you have to buy some over there I'm sure you'll be back to use them again!!!!!!
  9. HI Katefern Don't even consider going wihtout thermals. I am going in February and I have bought extra thermals and a box of hand and feet warmers. Make sure you have a excellent rating jacket. Being cold can ruin your day out. Also remember some days can be okay but have a super cold wind chill. I spent extra last year on my jacket and pants and didn't regret it at all. Skied all day and night. THAT'S another thing don't forget you have night skiing in Niseko and it is much colder at night than during the day.
  10. HI again Just a heads up for you SnowJapan has the best daily reports for Niseko last year were on it everyday a month before we left and this year when we were planning our trip we check out the accomodations and previous reports to check out the best time to go and roughly what the weather was going to be like for that month. Also GREAT daily photo's of the resort.
  11. It makes me feel better that there are other people out there suffering like me. I am trying to get the fitness level back up for my trip to Japan and lose a few kilo's as well. Have cut back on EVERYTHING that is bad for you Jogging 6klm 4 times a week and doing weights. If I don't look like flippin Elle McPhearson in 4 weeks I AM GIVING UP!!! Or perhaps not, just had a horrid thought I bought new ski pants last year they may not fit me this year if I don't keep at it!!
  12. HI KF Welcome to the SJ Forums. I can't help you much with the transfers our flight has a connecting direct to Chitose - Our luggage from Aus we only had a 20kg limit each, we had ski's and snowboard, I packed my Ski boots into my backpack as cabin luggage and packed a few other light items in with them and then wore my ski jacket on the plane and just stored it once I was on. We are also heading to Niseko in Feb if this is your first time ENJOY it is AWESOME!!!!!!
  13. OH YEAH THURSDAY - LOVE THEM!!! During our drought those idiots started SO MANY bushfires that it got to the point that if anyone was seen throwing cigarette butts out the window you took their number plates reported them to the police and they were charged.
  14. Another glorious day of spring - Tough life - Saturday long walk along the beach - Sunday out in the boat all day. Days 23oC Night 14oC
  15. And don't you just love people who pull up to the lights and empty their ashtray on the road!!!!! They don't want their car stunk up with a full ashtray that they have been to lazy to empty at home so HEY just dump it on the street for someone else to clean up!! Maybe a fine and 50 hours picking up rubbish would be more incentive for these pigs.
  16. I get a little mad with the whole olympics thing. To me ANYONE who makes it to the olympics is a total inspiration YET with the able body olympics we get FULL coverage - Morning shows cover it completely - Medal Tallies - interviews etc. Para Olympics and Special Olympics very little - I just heard a 2 sec piece on the news that we have won 10 medals and 4 of them where gold. I had to google to see what we had one. ARE THESE ATHLETES NOT AS IMPORTANT AS OUR ABLE BODY OLYMPIANS???????? I think they are and should get the same coverage. At least broadcast the events that the Au
  17. Hassled or Robbed in Japan!!!! Very unlikely I found them to be one of the friendliest most honest people. In fact I think we could take a leaf out of their - book even there children were polite. Can you imagine leaving a vending machine (with beer in it) on a street corner in Australia I DON'T THINK SO!!!! We were gob smacked when people were pulling up to the supermarket, leaving there car running and going in and doing their shopping. Joshstar - Go to a book shop and get the Lonely star japanese phrase book and there is another great one (will let you know on that one tonight
  18. I have to agree again with Mike. Everyone we know who is coming to Japan next year is already booked and deposits paid. We have already fully paid for our trip as we received and early bird discount and the taxes were going up each month so now we are all paid up. We will still be looking at going to Japan in 2010 as hopefully the markets and economy will be steady and back on the rise. Your saying Niseko has gone up 30% but it is still cheaper than Aus or NZ and your guaranteed of a good time so isn't that worth paying a little extra????? I know the locals are probably find
  19. Thanks again Mike - I have been looking at the map but was a little unsure on which lifts to take and then where to go now with your EXCELLENT advice I will be able to study it again and come February I will be off on the first day to try it out. CHEERS :-)
  20. Thanks Mike. I now need to now how I get from Higashiyama across to Annupuri???
  21. You know I can be pretty anal about my food but I had a blast and tried everything I wanted to. It is very hard to mask meat products in Ice Cream, Chocolates and tempura vegetables (just kidding I did eat other things) and funny being a vegetarian I actually don't like Tofu!!!!! I know international investment is not a good thing to the locals BUT then on the other hand is it. It brings in the tourists which must boost the local economy surely Niskeo from what I could see seems to be a farming community which must produce milk, cheese, potato etc. So surely the farmers and their fam
  22. I agree I think Qantas have had the monopoly for so long they have become complacent and their service has definately dropped and their safety. I beleive that Cathy go to singapore then a direct flight to Sapporo which is the option we may look at for 2010 (yep sad huh we are already looking that far ahead). Jetstar are flying out of Coolongatta to Osaka now BUT HEY I just can't do that cramped seats on a long trip would rather pay a little extra and have comfort and food. Like I have said before I work hard so I can play hard.
  23. This is such a funny but realistic thread. My husband and I are EXACTLY the same he is a more advanced skier and gets bored staying with me (or embarrassed) so off he goes all day by himself and off I go, then we meet up at around 4pm for a beer and then hit the slopes again (seperatley) for night skiing. Next year we are taking friends that are all gungho skiers and snowboarders (all good for him) and off I go by myself again. I think I will be getting myself an instructor or rent a buddy. this time. Will be looking for tall dark and handsome (teehee) !!!!!!!!
  24. On & Off for 10 years, but from about 4 years ago we go every year without fail. My husband even tries to go twice a year. So I guess YES WE ARE ADDICTED!!!!
