  1. I had an interesting conversation with my girlfriend today (Travel Agent) and we were talking about the price increases and whether she had had many people cancel Her Reply was. The Resorts can put their prices up in these tough times without to much fear of cancellations because there is still plenty of demand there. She hasn't noticed a huge drop in people going to Japan on Ski Trips and is still getting people coming in and booking. What about 2010 season though OR maybe it will be come a playground for the rich and famous.
  2. Got the biphocals out and I think it is actually people walking up the mountain with their gear.

I ate Poutine, Pancakes and Maple Syrup, TIM HORTONS, went to the ice hockey. When I am in a country do as the locals do. When people come to OZ it is usually a visit to the beach, pat a
  4. YEAH POOR CHILD!! They said today on an interview that when the baby is older they will tell it that daddy was the mummy and carried it and gave birth. How come the other one didn't get pregnant if she is the female in the relationship?? I sorry can't think about it anymore it does my head in
  5. Mr Snowhunter got very excited last weekend and put Christmas decorations up all around the shop (bit National Lampoons christmas vacation). We are very very quiet not even any laybys yet for Christmas. People seem to have closed there wallets up BUT on the other hand in December the AUS government is handing out $1000 to pensioners and I think it is $1000 for each child. So maybe they will all come out spending when they get their bonuses. Have also heard all the Theme Parks attendances a WAY DOWN!
  6. Maybe you need to hire MikePow for the day he is an instructor at Niseko and seems to know the mountain backwards.
  7. B It is really funny you used the D word as I had a guy warn me of this pending doom back in July and said that by Dec 2008 the world would be in a recession and by mid 2009 we would be heading for a D. To this day he has totally predicted everything correctly. Wish I had listened to him instead of thinking he was a bit special needs.
  8. Okay Matt here are a few more things to think about and totally do your head in. Niseko has night skiing so you can ski all day and into the night, then go hit the bars. Not only do you have the beginner runs at Hirufu but you can ski across to Higashyama and Annupuri. Being a beginner are you going to be up to skiing EVERY DAY (or is it just us oldies that need a lay day!!) Niseko has regular shuttles into Kutchan where we spent a day just walking around and getting lost and shopping in the local supermarket. Also a train trip to Otaru sightseeing. AND MOST OF ALL - Yeah there may b
  9. COOL PHOTO!! That is surreal I never knew that Hawaii got snow. I have just learnt something, I could make beer money off this betting people that Hawaii has snow!! Thanks for the pics CB.
  10. Hi Matt welcome to the forums I can only speak of my experience in Niseko. You really can't compare NZ tourist experience with Niseko. I found Queenstown to be very like the Gold Coast (very Touristy). Niseko is a great introduction to your Japow Ski Experience, your whole experience will be very cool. They have some great beginner runs for the very inexperience. Yes there were heaps of Aussies there BUT we also indulged totally in the Japanese experience. You can get by knowing very little Japanese. We had a blast I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT!! This is our second yea
  11. Morning It is cloudy, showery but warm and humid here today. Good to see some rain.
  12. I would say 3 months over date is okay BUT a year HECK I don't know ALTHOUGH I would say with potato chips they probably have so much salt and preservative that they would be fine. In the olden days your nose was the use by date regulator.
  13. HI Sam 1) Surf back through the forums and most of your questions will be answered. Nearly every question has a posting on here somewhere grab a beer and have a look. 2) Go into Daily Reports and surf your archive reports! 3) Even if it is a bad season in Japan you can still be guarantee of good skiing 4) A Good Season in Japan will mean Snorkel and Goggles BECAUSE OF ALL THE POW!!!!!
  14. DON'T OVER DO IT!!!! I have been going along really well with the fitness and strength improving so each week I pushed a little more and a little more. RESULTS - 2 swollen knees and a lot of pain and now can't lift one of my arms above my head incredible pain in shoulder. Not happy about having to go back to small jogs and walking.
  15. Thanks for the AWESOME photo's SJ. Those Autumn colours are truly SPECTACULAR!! WELL DONE JAPAN I am new to this whole telephone box phenononem. Does it get snowed under?? Is it like a tardas or Get Smart Phone Box?? I will keep checking on the telephone box with great anticipation.
  16. Our trip was 5K pp BUT that was 2 nights accom at the Ice Festival 12 nights accom in Niseko Airfare - Transfers - Ski Passes We are not complaining about that at all and to eat and drink in Niseko is fairly cheap it is just going to be a little more expensive this time. We feel that we wont be able to afford a trip in 2010 BUT just wait I bet 3 days into our trip we will be trying to work out a plan to save for 2010!!
  17. Japan certainly has breath taking seasonal changing Your Autumn is stunning colours - Winter is like a white wonderland and then you have cherry blossom season. Here in Oz we have Spring - Summer - Fall and Winter but the foliage seems to stay the same all year round ALTHOUGH in spring all the beautiful Jacaranda's (purple flowering tree) come out and the country side is splashed in Purple.
  18. We wont have to worry about killing them soon as they have been fasting for 4 days so with a bit of luck they will starve themselves to death first!!
  19. Is anyone likening Obama being voted in to how popular J F Kennedy was?? My biggest fear is some REDNECK will take it on himself to assasinate him as he is such a history making man!!
  20. Thanks for the great photo's MP I am sitting here drowling and green with jealousy. Look forward to photo's and your report on Monday after more snow. I am amazed how quickly the snow disappeared today.
  21. Good Tip FGTX Mr Snowhunter drinks protein drinks everyday at home when training but I have never been into them. We are going to bring some with us. May start tomorrow have over done the pre trip training and done a few injuries that need a quick repair!!
  22. M those photo's are simply BEAUTIFUL thank you for sharing them with us. We don't have beautiful autumn colours like that in Qld Aus.
  23. I can only speak of my experience in Niseko. For us it was a great introduction to skiing in Japan as it wasn't a total necessity to be able to speak Japanese and the introduction to Japanese food was made easier with such a huge variety available in Niseko (however we only had Japanese while we were there). This year I have learnt a little more Japanese and will practise it while in Niseko ready for, hopefully, a trip to another resort in 2010!! You know what I don't think you will be disappointed wherever you go in Japan.
  24. HERE HERE JA - We are still coming because we had paid for our trip in full BUT we will not have a lot of spare cash to spend while we are there. I can tell you we are far from weathly but don't smoke, only drink socially, don't have new cars, don't dine out alot which means we can save our money to ski in Japow (which is TOTALLY worth it) BUT it will mean that 2010 may not be a possibility??
