  1. Do you mean in the building cost or running costs? I don't know about the first, I would have to check the building details, but the second isn't so bad. Our gas bill shoots up by about 14,000yen in the winter months, but that's due to us having more baths and using the floor, so I would estimate about 7,000yen or so a month for about 4 hours a day during the week, and about 8 hours at the weekend.
  2. We went with flooring. Easier to clean than carpets in the case of kiddy accidents. We do have some rugs though for winter which can also be easily cleaned. However, the flooring can be pretty cold in the mornings in winter if we forget to turn on the underfloor heating.
  3. Na, it wasn't hooded so we were exposed to the elements. Chriselle and I certainly had some red faces at the end of the day. Think I posted a cheese shot but still going through the pictures on my phone. Boy In Japan managed to take some obscure ones recently....

  5. Chriselle kindly invited me along for a small road trip up north to Hakuba. He picked me up at Otsuki station and we, well he, drove up, facing some strong winds and as we drove into Hakuba, some horrendous snow storms, that can only be described as massive. He got us safely to the hotel, at around 10:30pm and after a quick beer, collapsed into out beds. The snow was coming down thick and fast all night, as you can see in this picture: And it didn't stop at all. Thankfully, on waking up, the view was spectacular and was well worth the drive up. The only problem was with the w

  8. Looking like a mixed weekend this week according to JMA weekly forecast. Rain or sunshine here and there. Hopefully the latter as want to get some pictures this season, rather than being snowed on or rained on.
  9. If I were a religious man, I would be getting him to make it snow.
  10. Because the ones who have made it big because of their own intelligence and creativity doesn't bother me. The ones who have earnt their money from dodgy schemes and trades, then yes, that bothers me. Is it fair? No. But that's life. If you don't like it, revolt or do something about it. The rich pay more taxes? How much do they pay now as percentage of their wealth? While it may seem I am sticking up for the wealth inequality, I'm not. But it seems fashionable to bash the people who have made something of their life, and been successful. It's good to see people like Bill Gates and Warr
  11. What proportion of those people earnt their wealth?
  12. Thanks for nothing. All I have for breakfast is an egg and some cold water now.
  13. Pachinko. I really, really, REALLY don't understand the pleasure of it. Loud, blaring music and a smoky atmosphere...
