Rewaterproofing your gear

I wouldn't wash mine ether, but it cuts down on my cool factor when I try and pick up snow bunnies. For some reason I have a harder time attracting women when I am dirty and stinky. -

The first Gortex jacket I bought, I didn't wash for 2 seasons because I was told if I wash it, it wouldn't be waterproof anymore. By the time I did wash it, it had so many unidentifiable stains on it, it was like a modern art master piece. I probably could have taken it to Ginza or Omatesando Hills and sold it in a boutique for thousands. -
the 07/08 Kagura stuff
OkemoLoon replied to tsondaboy's topic in Snow talk, trip reports, Japan avalanche & backcountry
I have room for 3 other people comfortably. I will let you know tomorrow night what my plans are exactly. -
I'm sure this has been covered in other TRs, so I apologize for the repeat, but I did search and couldn't find the info I wanted. I have always used Scotch Guard to "rewaterproof" any of my stuff after I wash it. I usually wash jacket, pants, sleeping bag, tent, etc... in washer just like the rest of my laundry and then spray it with Scotch Guard when it drys. Theres gotta be better ways to take care of my stuff. Im to the point now were im spending a good chunk of money on my gear and I want to maintain it the best I can. Any words of wisdom form all you gear junkies?

You do really have to get there early, that place gets chopped up fast. By 10 the slopes seemed crowded to me, but there were no lift ques. -

The drive is really not that bad if you do it when there is no traffic. It can take a little a 2.5hours or as much as 5 for me from Machida Kanagawa. -

Im in Machida, and I too am looking for people to split cost. If your in Fujisawa it would be easy to meet up and head north together. I have this weekend off so I will probably try and get up there one of the days. The lifts weren't moving over at Tashiro at all, it was probably just a early weekend only deal for them. -

I did Kagura today, I tried to beat Tsondaboy's 2.5 hour drive, but came up about 20 min shy because I got off early and took 17 through the mountains rather than stay on the expressway all the way to Yuzawa. I did get there in time for the first ropeway from Mitsumata. Which didn't leave until 8 by the way. Only about 4 people beat me to the top and I got onezzies on my first run and I was able to avoid crossing tracks with anyone for the next three or four. The snow was great shin to knee deep powder but it got tracked up FAST. I looked over at Tashiro and it looked closed t -

backpacker shithole huh... good enough for me, Im used to crashing in my car for the weekend and hitting an onsen when I need a shower. She mentioned something about a pension style hotel. I have no idea what that means. -

Well, the boss (my girlfriend) made the final decision for me. She got a deal including flights, 2 nights, 2 brekie, 2 dinner, 2 day lift ticket for about 29000yen each. The lift tickets are only for Grand Hirafu but we can pay 1500 more for all 3 resorts. I have no idea what to expect as far as hotel and food. I guess we don't find out exactly what hotel we stay at until a week before we leave. Same goes for flight information. I found that a bit strange but this is a first for me. -

Giro Helmets

Now that Im looking at it I think I just got a size to big and the helmet is sitting to low on my head. I have to tighten it quite a bit to make it fit. I guess my bean is smaller than I thought. Probably going to have to send the L back and get a M. -
Just received my new Giro G10 helmet. Fits great and feels good, until I put my Smith Goggles on. With the helmet on the goggles sit way to low on my face deffinetly affecting my visability. Anyone have the same issues with Giro Helmets or know what brand goggles work with them? I guess Im just going to have to go out and get Giro goggles now. Sucks cause I just bought 2 new pairs of Smiths. baka baka.

yes that is also great advice, next time you rip a fakie backside 7, just stick the landing. It works for Tanner every time.
