  1. Hi all I'm heading over to Japan this season... Going to be staying at Annapuri from 25Dec-7Jan, then Rusutsu from 8JAN-15JAN, then Niseko from 15Jan to 31JAN. My bro's are going to come join me from 8-22Jan, but for the rest I'm mostly going to be on my own so if anyone wants to hook up for some boarding and a couple of drinks look me up. Good to meet new people. Cheers.
  2. Hey all looking to travel to Niseko / Rusutsu for a couple weeks from 2 Jan. Snowboarding with my two brothers just thought I'd check to see if there are any rules about walkietalkie/UHF handheld communicator usage on the slopes. We are thinking it might be handy to help locate each other if we get split up. Any advice would be much appreciated (also if you know of a good brand communicator that'd be good too) Cheers,
  3. Hey Foxpuppet. I actually did just that and they gave me a 10% overall discount on the jacket and pants since they didn't have a combo with the two together. They were really helpful actually, went through a lot of the different gear. Hopefully have them shipped to me in Australia within about 5-7 working days.
  4. Yeah I saw that combo. Wasn't too keen on the jacket in that though and at least this way it's all matching and good quality all round I'm going to be heading to Rusutsu for 10 days and then Niseko for another 10 starting 4th Jan until 26th. I'm trying to arrange to stay till the 8th of Feb but that'll be dependant on getting extra time off work, finding accommodation, flights etc. Yeah IT is certainly in demand. My bro is in IT and racking in six figures. I'm a bit gutless to go contractor route so I'm getting somewhat less in a government role in exchange for a permanent j
  5. Going to go with this: http://www.dogfunk.com/dogfunk/VLC1192/Volcom-Daringer-Jacket-Mens.html?id=gnHtMXi8 http://www.dogfunk.com/dogfunk/VLC1598/Volcom-Megatron-Softshell-Snowboard-Pant-Mens.html Pricy but I think it'll do the trick combined with some suitable thermals and fleecy jacket beneath. Also both jacket/pants join together.
  6. I got there on 27th December last year and whilst there was a bit of snow it didn't really kick in for at least a week or so (Rusutsu / Niseko) This year I'm arriving on 5th January for a 3 week stint. Wish it could be longer though. Hmm maybe I can work somthing out for another week off work...
  7. Heheh I've got a friend in the USA that could take delivery and then ship to me. I guess I'm willing to fork out for something so long it is decent. I made mistake buying a some standard jacket last year and I was forever drying it out each night. Also it tore, the velcro on the wrists tore off after about two weeks of pulling on and off and that was a $200 jacket. Yeah yellow could be good although if my head's buried I could be mistaken for yellow snow. So you reckon a jacket like the above would suffice if combined with thermal shirt and fleecey jacket? It's hard to g
  8. What do you guys think of this? Burton AK 3L Hover Jacket - Men's http://www.dogfunk.com/dogfunk/BUR1700/Burton-AK-3L-Hover-Jacket-Mens.html?id=AS2ipdTh Burton AK Gore 2L http://www.dogfunk.com/dogfunk/BUR0934/Burton-AK-Gore-2L-Vent-Pant-Mens.html?id=AS2ipdTh Do you guys know how well this jacket might put up with hard use? Snowboarding on piste and tree runs. Not likely to tear?
  9. Guys I kinda like the Burton AK Gore 3L Jacket as it's stated to have a removable hood but there's more options if I go for the fixed hood. But a question - I wear a helmet since when I go off into the trees I invariably smack my head into them. How do you guys go with a wearing a jacket with a non-removable hood and a helmet? Do you wear the helmet over the hood or do you tuck it into the collar or just let it hang down the back?
  10. how'd you go with breathability Foxpuppet? I'm an animal that sweats but I can also get cold so breathability is important to me.
  11. Wow thanks guys for all the responses! I'm just finishing up work now so I'll check out all those sites once I get home. Definately looking at the uninsulated shell option especially for versatility and layering works for me!
  12. Hi I live in Perth and there doesn't appear to be (to my knowledge) much of a range of snow apparel I can purchase here. Not suprising though since it doesn't snow here! I am wondering if you good people could recommend me on some good reputable online stores that can help me out. In particular I would like to get hold of a good gore-tex outer jacket. While boarding I'm going for the thermal, then the fleecy jumper and then the outer jacket. The one I had last year used to get all wet on the inside and not very breathable and it also wasn't very strong. I enjoy going off
