Nice read folks! I am keen to take the trip to find out about it and it will probably be my only longish trip of the season. Other than Niseko I plan to check out all the places nearby here in Fukushima. Any other Fukushimaians here?

I have only been in Hakuba for a couple of hours on the way up north (long story) but I was very impressed with the way the mountains were all lined up. Spectacular scenery, probably some of the best I have seen and I can imagine it would be wonderful in winter. I'm quite a way off now though, in Fukushima, and so this region will be my playground.

I saw on the news last night that they have more than usual up there for the time of year? Seems strange considering the general lack of snow. I've not been but would like to give it a go.

Fukushima

I went on one once - though not underwater. Very impressive it was, but I don't think I could be cooked up in one of those things either. I wonder if people ever panic, what training they have before going in there and spending long periods of time?

I first went skiing when I was 10. Then there was a long period when I didn't but started up again after college. Only had one time out here in Japan though (moved to Fukushima in March) and so looking forward to my first proper season.

Bandai near me is a good looking mountain.
