Niseko avalanches
banjobiwan replied to Hornster's topic in Snow talk, trip reports, Japan avalanche & backcountry
i heard the higashi one face, which to get to from gate 5 would involve a pretty long traverse unless the hiked up from Gate 5. i liked the Avie report yesterday with the comments on not making ugly lines by traversing and follow the fall line. -

thanks thursday Sorry SJ it's not what i meant by time consuming... what i was implying was to do with the fact i shot over 500 pics today and i dont have the time atm to upload them as there are far to many to choose from! we had such a great day, i just wanted to share a little of the stoke as i could not contain how awesome a day we had! Muikabochi - you obviously do this a lot thats why i asked, it's not that i dont have the time...i really want to share the stoke and experience. it took me over an hour of sorting through the pics to find what i wanted to share here! it''s kind

you post a lot of photo's on here muikabochi...do you have a work around that makes it faster? i just find having to upload individual or 5 pics at a time then open my gallery and individually copy the image URL is very time consuming. if i had a mouse rather than a trackpad i would probably not complain so much, but i find this hard at the moment. on my imac at home i do everything a LOT faster.

after a well earned but albeit silly move to take the day off riding yesterday (i heard some epic lines were had all over) we decided to do a bit of peak hiking today. once in the morning dropping from mt annupurri peak down fujiwara no sawa to hanazono 308 for a quick break...then traverse to annupuri side to meet the crew for lunch. then at 225 we headed out gate 2 up the south peak, down to mt annupurri and dropped into kozan no sawa.... the weather lifted, blue sky and golden snow as the sun was dropping made for a great run down and high fives all round at the bottom enjoy some of the pi

How safe was the peak yesterday GN? Were a lot of people hitting it up? -
What about a percentage charge? I was pretty sure St George charges 2.5% on top of fx. I am trying to pay the balance of our accom, cannot do bank to bank transfer as it requires SMS confirmation which I cannot do as no mobile. This way would have been best with a one off $40 charge. I would pay via c/c but they told me it's a 5% surcharge which on 6k is no small amount. So the whole reason for my question was thinking of withdrawing money frm ATM and paying cash. Ideas?

i am still amazed at just how many people are totally clueless when it comes to money in japan. some girls in our lodge turned up with about $200aud worth of yen between them, they paid for hire gear in cash then realised they had 800 yen left for a week! they promptly returned the hire gear to be able to afford to eat and paid via c/c

cool thanks guys, i just wanted to know what they charged... and if the FX is good do you know what rate you got? currently the yen is about 5 higher than what we got a month ago at home. then 79 now 83-4. running low on cash with 10 dtg. must have spent more than planned (maybe the new camera in tokyo)

i had both swine and normal flu before coming to japan, every trip i have gotten sick either on the plane, from someone coughing behind me the whole flight or in the ski fields from similar... this trip i have felt great the whole time and would recommend the flu vaccines to anyone if the are susceptible (?) to getting sick.

SJ i'm still confused.... i'm using the URL for the image as copied from my gallery and the pics still dont work...this is why i do it the way i do cause it's much more simplified... now everyone has gone out riding and im screwing around here.... i will try again tonight, no mouse and a screwy trackpad is giving me RSI. thanks for your help so far

no i love snowjapan more than just a bunch of sites! i just have been having issues physically with uploading from our macbook to SJ so i uploaded to Facebook istead, because i already have an iphoto exporter that sends it right there with all tags, comments etc done in one easy window. ok i have given it another go and it's the time it takes with a very complicated way of doing it. The FB exporter is way easier for me to do a lot of pics in a bulk lot and then its a simple copy image address and post in image tags. On SJ i have to manually go to each pic and copy the URL and j
