Definitely want adjustable vents, thinking about the tunes option. Are they easy to turn on and off without having to undress. Good for chatting with your mates before dropping the line..... -
Helmet or Not to Helmet

AK-Not really trying to be persuaded or influenced in any way. Just wondering what people opinions were, and if anything I was really just trying to start something with EBC and you... there just doesn't seem to be the right amount of banter on this forum. But if you really want to know my head is sort long and round with a bump in the back kind of like a western eggplant with a tumor......now can you help me???? -

FT- the helmet will just slow me down ya know....wind resistence. CB-the only one that's getting tackled is your sorry ass just for being you. BP-yeah I was looking at that helmet, looks sweet, but haven't tried one on yet. Maybe this weekend. Tohoku-yeah I know what you mean about false confidence. I did try one a couple of times last year, and found myself less hesitant about huck off things, but maybe that was a good thing. I think I know my limits enough to know if I am going to die if I launch off something. But you never know when your following FT's lines! -
Not sure how many of you out there are covering your noggin, but I'm thinking about getting a helmet this year and just wanted to see what kind of comments everyone has. 1)What's your opinion, helmet or no helmet? 2) Any recommendations? I know that in the end it comes down to fit, but has anyone got any major complaint with one helmet or another. Any amazing features i should know about?

Thanks for the BBQ
Fubuki replied to Fubuki's topic in Snow talk, trip reports, Japan avalanche & backcountry
well I don't think anyone coulod actually function a high tech device in our state of mind, so unfortunately I don't think there is incriminatin evidence against anyone, but I could be wrong........ -
Well last weekend's BBQ was a hell of a good time. Thanks to Fat Twins for having it at his place, and like usual passing out super early so that people could torture you. Thanks to old the old time SJ veterans for being there and keeping the entertainment going. And thanks to all the new people I met. I had a great time. It was a perfect way for me to end my season. Now it's time to switch to summer mode.....let's bike!

FT- yeah I was bummed I backed out to considering the guy I was suppose to meet didn't even show. F#$%"er. Well next weekend I will come a little more prepared for some BC excursioning, so hopefully the rain can stay away! Sweet pics by the way....I had a look at Janus's pics and I was kicking myself for not going....

best board bindings
Fubuki replied to rigor mortis's topic in Snow talk, trip reports, Japan avalanche & backcountry
This year I also made the transition back to strap bindings. I had been riding clicker highbacks for years, and you are right they are super convienent, except in powder. I ended up buying the Burton Cartel highbacks this year and have been so totally impressed by them. The cap strap gives you the same feeling as the toe/heel attachement of the clickers with a bit more flexibility. Also I have found the cartel way more comfortable than the clickers. It took a little getting use to again, but after a day of riding straps I won't ever go back to clickers. The highbacks are stiff, which helps wit -
Under your jacket
Fubuki replied to HoTRoD's topic in Snow talk, trip reports, Japan avalanche & backcountry
I've usually got on a long sleeve med. weight thermal plus a heavy thermal fleece pullover thingy witht the zip turtle neck that SubZero was talking about, and my shell. If is is cold I add a light weight windproof marmot jacket that is fleeced lined, then of course the shell on top, but even with all of this on I've gotten pretty chilly on some of those super windy days way up in the alpine stuff. I'm actually looing for a new jacket that is lined any recommendations out there?
