  5. Yeah, we were 8. All Japanese except me. There were a few other groups camping in the parking lot with us too:
  6. Here's a few pics from Sunday May 15th. Skiing down. You can see the roof of the 6th station near the middle. Lunch at the 8th station. It was a bit windy. Looking back up after the weather cleared. The thin white strip in the middle is where we skied. Traversing between slopes.
  7. Yeah, we took the Fujinomiya (south side) trail, we camped in the 5th station parking lot. We didn't actually turn around, we just left are skis there and hit the peak without them. Reason we didn't take 'em was a combination of both, it just wasn't worth skiing from the top since we couldn't see and it would've been ice if there was enough snow.
  8. Yeah, we did ski it. from about just above the 9th station (fujinomiya) to the new 7th station. The weather was indeed not very good. The wind was gusting but could've been worse. Visibility was nil until mid afternoon when we got down below the 8th and it cleared up a little. Snow was hard and icy above that and softened below. We got a little bit of graupel but not really any new snow.
  9. Sounds interesting, but i have no bike and the thought of carrying my heavy gear again after lugging it to the top of Fuji on Sunday is almost unbearable.
  10. the driver (23) is believed dead (they think they found his body), the conductor (42) is the one that has superficial injuries. evidence suggests that the driver was speeding at 100km/h (the limit at that spot is 70km/h) to make up lost time because he overran the last station by 40 meters and took a minute to back up (he then asked the conductor to report it as 8m) the speed alone is not enough to explain the derailment since officials say a train could go through it at up to 130km/h. they think that rocks on the rails could have contributed. also, there were only older safety moni

  15. that's the thing, the difference in distance isn't that big, though this one was deeper by 10 or 20km.
  16. i agree, get out there, spring skiing is cheaper and its awesome to be out in the mountains in the hot sun. it'll also give a chance to figure everything out so you can make plans before the next season starts.
  17. woke me up too, news says it was 6.1, i thought the one from two months ago (4.3) felt stronger. epicenter was in Chiba.
