  1. I thought you might like it, Mini Me Tarzan. Maybe I will start that "Natto at resorts" thread Cheeseman suggested, so as to not derail his thread here...
  2. Off topic, I know, but here's some natto in the half-pipe at Rusutsu today...
  3. And not a government in the world has any idea of how to stop it. That's the down-side of having a free-market economy. They don't have the regulatory legislation in place to take over when the market is in free-fall, and handing out millions (or billions) of dollar/pound/yen in "stimulus" packages does nothing but lift confidene for a day or two, then back to the slide. Americans are so afraid of "big government", too, that the legislators won't even step up to the plate to do anything. Poor Obama, he's not going to have a fun first term.
  4. It's hard to really capture the look on Phool's face as the Cat disappeared into the void, leaving us on that windy, forlorn peak. Luckily, we didn't commit to the 3 ride option, one was plenty. Sorry Cheeseman, no cheese up there...
  5. The only cam I got is on my iPhone, so quality not what others can achieve. But I'll try. Especially looking for a photo op with cheese involved.
  6. Well we did get out to Weiss and landed in some heavy, knee-deep stuff with no visibilty for one run, then hit Kutchan for lunch. Was untracked when we got there, and found out why quickly.
  7. Had a couple of drinks with GoNative last night, so we're havng a quiet one today...
  8. Not all yours, Mike. We got our share too Nice to run into you too. Keep up the good work on the pics.

  10. Just walked back from central Kutchan to our hotel. Jeans were not quite the go, even after sake, shochu, and beer...
  11. It is Nozawa, my favorite photo from my trip there too.
  12. He can sure talk the talk, now let's see if he can back it up.
  13. I took up skiing just as parabolic skis were coming into fashion - southern winter 1996. Did try straight skis once (loaned from a friend) and did not have much fun. Was early intermediate then, maybe a bit easier for me now, but why bother trying?
  14. You'll be skiing at a few different resorts, which don't have shared pass arrangements (mostly). You'll be better just to pick up day passes at the resort you're sking at each day.

  16. There will always be civil servants, but when less taxes come in, budgets are cut, and then you will find there are less civil servants.
  17. On the news this morning, looks like you're far from alone in your plight...

Sorry, Mamabear, I forgot to mention that bit to you before. How are you finding the terrain otherwise? Have you skipped over the top to Cervinia for a Pizza yet? Youe lift pass is valid there, if you bought the right one.
  19. We are down in Kutchan too for Oz day (thanks to GN again). There must be some way to have a VB/XXXX/Foster's or two there without fighting spilling onto the streets?

  21. I was think more along the lines of something that won't be going on every night.
  22. Anyone know of anything happening in or around Niseko for Oz day this year?
