  2. Last Halloween I went as a full size coffin, works well if you get asked for ID a lot as you can just point to your Epitaph!!! Also classics such as: stick a condom on your nose- Fu*k knows!! For the blokes a potatoe on your John- Dictator! Legal Documents stuck on a suit- Law suit! Toga with lettuce stuck on it- Ceasar salad!! And the list goes on.....

  7. Bill Bryson`s book "Notes from a Sunburned Country" is also a wicked read if you are interested in the developing history of Australia, (I say developing due to the relative "newness" of Australia in terms of history!). There are some pretty interesting comments about teh Aboriginies in there also and how they suffered in Oz as the colonialists arrived (including the legalisation of actually hunting them as animals by the upper classes!). Pretty eye opening stuff. Farquah
  8. Quote: Also, what do you do down in the Ogasawara-islands? Is there surf down there? Is it busy? When should I go? Sooo many questions. Save me! I want to escape! Ogasawara has some great surf but depends when you go, I always go over around July till start of September, as thats when the Green Turtles are hatching and I work for the Marine Centre collecting data and studying them, along with a load of other endemic species there (of which there is a staggering amount, some people call Ogaswara the Gallapagos of Asia). Then its warm tropical sea`s but not huge waves, best time for some good
  9. Since I started the thread thought I should mention some of my own!! Festivals (so many!)! National holidays (again so many!) T-shirts with the most hilarious English written on them when the wearers have no idea what it means!! Rotenbura at sunset with Fuji san in the background and a beer in hand!! Awsome sunsets, sitting on a train having a random strike up a conversation with you because he/she is interested in other cultures. But mostly... Ogasawara Islands where I spend two months every year working at the Marine Centre, one of the most awsome islands on earth (big ca
  10. Quote: I miss the **real world** so much that I have started to run around the streets of my suburb naked save for a pair of oversized school girl white socks and throwing human excreta at houses whilst yelling out “abunai, I am reversing, abunai, I am reversing!!” Things I like about Nihon, those crazy Gaijin!!!
  11. We all like a good `ol moan to our mates, and on this discussion board about how Japan can be a nightmare at times, with ridiculouslly complicated beaurocracy, petty rules, and "dirty Ramen shops"!! However what about the flip side, what do you love about Japan? After all there must be some pretty good things to keep us all living here!!?? I`ll take starters for 10.....
  12. Try flynig with Lufthanser, they are usually pretty good at availabilities and is the cheapest I found as well. As long as you don`t mind a stop over in Frankfurt or Munich and some 6ft2 ex international shotput German Airhostess!! Travel hero and No1 Travel usually have quite a lot of seats allocated, check the Japan Times for the offers, last year I flew in July at last minute got awsome deal.
  13. BEst site to check out is wavehuntersjapan.com gives you a load of info about Chiba surf and daily reports plus info on accomodation along with the decent bars and eating joints around the area. Also directions on how to find the best spots.
  14. Now Spring has sprung and summer is on its way how many people are surfers here? And where`s the best place for kit here? Have been down to Onjuku and Kujukurihama, Chiba but all seems overly pricey is this the norm in Japan? Any places with decent second hand gear? Also any top spots to check out?
  15. P.S Heard the Caymen Island beat Jamaica 41-14 in an intense battle also!! Lets not mess with the small fry!
  16. England Ireland Shocker!!! Fortress Twikenham is no more after 7 years winning streak!! Super 12`s how about the Chiefs over the Blues!! Seems as the defending champs have a way to go yet? And how about Manu`s tackle on Spencer. Heard he needed surgery to put a plate in his jaw! BOSH!! Could be bad news for the Fatboys up front if he is ruled out next match!
  17. Just seen the clips, another quality BBC comedy show!! And was well shocked to seem my old school in the "Music" sketch!! How freaky is that!
  18. Just to jump on the band wagon: "SJ Play" and the sequel "SJ Replay"! "Piste in Japan!"-SJ style? "Bring it on in Nihon!" "Snow Japan: Unzipped and Uncensored!" to name but a few!!
  19. Anyone have any tips on board care? I regularly wax, check binding parts, and generall "Board Maintenance" but have some rust developing on my nose and few other probs. 21. BLUES!!!!! Despite early shakey start we`ll be back on form, Can`t be beaten at Eden!! However I would keep your eye on the Brumbies this year. Bring on Crusaders!! In the words of "Scribe" ; "How many blues you know go like this, how many blues you know flow like this, not many if any...!!"
  22. I reccomend looking at around the Reading region, it is within easy reach of London 40mins or so but with the stunning countryside nearby, with the likes of Henley, Oxford, Sonning, e.t.c Especially good for fishing around Nettlebed. Can be pricey but like anything if you look around you`ll get a deal. DEFINATELY DON`T LIVE IN SLOUGH!! Also if living in England you get the benefit of not only being so close to the resorts of Europe but now possible to fly over there via budget travel companues such as Easy Jet and Ryan Air. I used to fly all the time for a pitance!! Under 50 pounds return
