  1. All over it seems, Obama to inherit the keys to te white house and a big challenge. Shame there is no money to do anything with now though!!
  2. I find it horrible how few men wash their hands over here after having a piss. Hardly ever see them go to the sink after using the bathroom, and it annoys me how we only get cold water over here to wash hands with. Having said that..dirty women!
  3. and New Mexico, and sounds like Ohio too which was crucial.
  4. Cheers very much. Mine is coming up again soon and I have been thinking about doing it myself for a while. May pop along to the testing center next week and have a look first. Definitely cheaper than the 10man I was quoted two weeks ago! I just changed my oil and did a wee service myself last weekend (mostly spark plugs, filters, water etc.) so hoping there won't be too much to do.
  5. If it fails on a point and you take it back the next week after fixing it, do you have to pay the shaken fee again?
  6. Guy Jean being a nuisance again today!!

  9. "Can I ask you a question?"<<<Well you didn't really give me much choice there did you!!
  10. Recently my work has unfortunately become a little more office orientated and I have found myself coming in each mornign and pretty much doing exactly the same things until about 12p.m. Something like this: turn coffee machine and radio on turn PC on Make coffee Check work email Check personal email Read online newspaper Check SJ Forums Start to respond to work emails/ start work! How about you guys? Similar routines or change day by day? I feel I am getting stuck in a bit of an office rut!!
  11. I think that the Japanese in general are roughy as bad as any other nation when it comes to not putting things in bins and just throwing it on the floor. The difference is that even the cleaners here show some pride in their work and there seem to be a lot more of them, therefore the place gets cleaned up quickly and well. Also kids are made to clean up in their schools themselves at the end of the day, this means that if they create the mess then they have to clean it up meaning more work for themselves, so it is in their best interests to keep it clean.
  12. Friend of mine hasn't been paid for 2 weeks since it was due, and the previous month apparently it was a week late as well. Her company is a small American company and the excuse given is that they are having problems transferring funds from a US account. She asked me what I would do if it was me, and I said that after two weeks then I wouldn't go into work until they paid me. As it would constitute a contract violation then she would be well within her rights, but she wasn't sure and didn't seem the Japanese way?! I advised her to be on the look out for a new job as well!! What would you
  13. Also sharing the jet lag pain here, just returned from the UK after a 3 year hiatus of going back. If this is how I always feel after getting bac then it'll be at least another 3 before I go back again!! Jet lag sucks, I also blame the smash sessions catching up over the last 10 days! My liver now needs a small holiday.
  14. I am coming back to the UK on Thursday, haven't been back for 3 years and was chatting to a French fellar who was over there last week. He gave me a word of warning about restaurants and bars if you pay by card, apparently some of the bars he went to it was standard practice for the manager to add a few extra quid onto the bill at the end?! Whether this was just because he was French I don't know but made me a bit weary. Certainly not looking forward to seeing how expensive things have become, mind you glad the pound just dropped a fair bit recently.
  15. Anyone going to this years festival? Good line up, Verve, Sex Pistols, Coldplay, Kooks, Fatboy Slim, Pual Weller, and loads more! Really looking forward to it (and I live pretty much next door to the event!). Actually looking for spare tickets too for a couple of mates if anyone has any? FOr the Sunday (!0th).
  16. That is great. Would be pretty interesting to see the development of it through the stages. I would love a log house made with my own hands and sweat, real family home type thing with roaring log fires in winter and an Aga cooker for that slow Sunday roast!! Top stuff.
  17. Oh well such is life I guess. Hospital told me yesterday no chance to compete on Sunday and then proceeded to suck two massive syringes of blood out of my knee! MRI scan Friday....injuries suck.
  18. Not sure why, but I have the worst luck with injuries, in particularly the bad timing of them. This weekend I had rowing training for a regatta next week with a coxed 4 i row in. After practice I had to quickly get off to a rugby game I was playing in that afternoon, as I left they all said jokingly not to get injured in the game. Obviously as the title suggests I did and am now sat with my leg p on my desk with a weird knee injury after hyper extening it yesterday and unable to bend it. Absolutely gutted as we hae been praacticing really hard for the regatta on Sat and it is not loo
  19. First the dog, now a house...pitter patter of tiny feet about to come?! Mate you want to talk to Chris about it, he got just bought his recently and would know about it. Also Mick has a mortgage after buying last year. Looking forward to the house warming!!
  20. Already been out to a few around my local area, not quite stifling hot yet so it is great to sit out and sink a few frosties. Also found some great outdoor restaurants neat where I work at the moment in Tokyo. Al fresco dining is definitely the wat forward!
  21. Anyone here in Tokyo refill their printer toner? I want to cut down on the new office waste and I haven't been able to find any refill packs anywhere. Have an OKI printer but lack of info on refilling around. Just wandering if anyone did as it saves heaps of cash (1man each time for new toner!) and also waste.
  22. Getting into Wimbledon at the moment, was great to see a few of Old Blighty's players getting stuck in this year. Eaton was a great shock and was funny to see the "Barmy Army" spreading to the hallowed halls. Hopes fall to Murray now, the big Scot! Sharapova got the worst defeat of her career also, looked out be a bit off form to say the least. Anyone else into it at all? Predictions?
  23. Back again last night, thy congregated in the junior school playground opposite the apartment, this time minus the police who I think were dealing with a serious incident of a man cycling whilst holding umbrella.
