  1. Well I hope you are happy with the questions that you have asked.

    The responses look pretty good

But as you and SM mentioned. It is an expensive change.

I dropped $1200 cdn on my new rig.

I'm super stoked by it though. Can't wait to get some bigger boards under the bindings next season. I'm thinking a 90-95mm waiste at 180 should be a great backcountry ride especially for the snow I'm skiing which is not often very deep.

BTW what boots are those? I'm really serious about getting set up with dynafit gear if I can find a way to afford it.

My boots are Scarpa Spirit 4
There is a review of AT boots on the TGR forum. Tries to compare most of the boots on the market to get their stiffness on a scale.
The Spirit 4 seems to be up there with the Garmont Adrenaline.

It is pricy to buy into Dynafit but one of the best choices I've made in buying backcountry gear.

I've never read a bad review of Dynafit. I'd think all people that buy them know what they are getting.

Thats scary Sanno. Although when you are touring with Dynafit they are locked on there and not coming off.

I've released only once FT but that was because they were on like 6 DIN. I've since upped that to 9 although maybe I'll just max them at 10 next year.
I think the only way you would pre-release on them is if you don't get the toe points all the way into the holes.

    Sorry I hijacked this thread.
I'm thinking of BROS for next season. How much are they going for FT?
Maybe a Brocker of just a 178 stiff
  4. They are not for people like you that mainly ski sidecountry/slackcountry and have 2000 metre lines within a lazy 1 hour skin. Although there is a DIN 12 Dynafit coming out next season. And at 500 grams that is 1/4 the weight of Fritschi and Naxo for the same quality. It also gets you closer to the ski and as well has a better stride.

But they are for people like me that don't ride lifts and want to get to the top of the mountain/run without lifting cement blocks on each step. If you find youself wanting to ski biglines in areas like Kamikochi and the Tateyama then the Dynafit is for you.

Remember how back in 2003 you were thinking that the Freeride binding was not strong enough? I sold you on them then cool.gif

And Dynafit boots are just as stiff as other AT boots on the market.

And I never realized there were so many TRs that I made. Some people bash the JET program but without it I never would have shared all these experiences.

Kuma, BP and dannyboy all have sick cameras so the shots are easy to get.

The other reason you're getting into these lines is because you have a good experienced team. I'm fuming that it all came together after I left. wink.gif
Are you hitting these lines in your Denalis or your downhills boots?

jesus, how many kids at your school anyways toque?

my smallest elective class has 18 which is pretty sweet - but most average 20-40 kids.

We only have 30 grade 8-12 students in my school
Pretty nice when it comes to marking and report cards
My smallest class on a good day has 6 students. Pretty sweet!

    On a different note
I am legend is a great movie
    and
I skied my first day of resort powder today and it was fun
  8. After 5 years of fairly intense use I've retired my 30 litre Marmot Eiger and bought an Arcteryx Khamski from MEC. The Eiger was getting thread bare and I could see through the fabric in the bottom. That bag went a lot of places in the mountains with me though. For a 30 litre bag I sometimes stuffed it enough to get out for 3 days.

    Link to MEC

I'm happy with the Khamski so far. At 40 litres its big enough for a days load of gear plus some extras which I need up north. And my first shovel/probe pocket which is great for storing wet skins and of course shovels.

  9. I bought a bunch of new dvds this fall

Linescore - Pretty cool except it was filmed during last seasons American crap season so the skiing isn't as sick as it could be. But pretty cool.

Lost and Found - Sick TGR vid as usual

Yearbook - Pretty good dvd from MSP. Couple years old though.

The Hit List - Good dvd from MSP from 2 seasons ago I think. Same year as Tangerine Dream which is a sick dvd.

  10. Oh man

This week has been a total right-off due to Christmas. Easy for me in the planning but annoying because the students just don't care. Most of them haven't bothered coming in so my grade 11/12 classes have only 2 students at most. Why bother teaching with so few.

Today we have guitar hero going off the projector and a wii off another TV. 10 students in the entire 8-12 part of the school

  11. Screw you FT

Damn you are scoring big so far this season!

    You deserve it buddy

I'm off south tomorrow afternoon. 8-10 hours to Smithers and then a plane the rest of the way south to Vancouver. I'll get my only resort days of the season on this little trip. A couple days in Smithers and as well Manning Park.

    Where is this at?

Looks like from the Gondola at Tsugaike

  12. Any other pictures Dizzy?

That is loads more snow that I have seen since figuring out this whole Tateyama place a few years ago.

Even with the "interesting" experience that you had, any bluebird fall day in Tateyama is something worthwhile. I never experienced it that is for sure. Was always whiteout for me. Cool you got out for some turns. Any day in the backcountry is loads better than a day spent riding the lifts.

    -17 pfft

-30 this morning on my bike into work
