  1. I have never taken my digital camera through the xray machines at the airport when exposed. Do you know if the xrays used by the baggage handlers will alter images shot on compact flash, smart media etc.?? do the machines have enough magnetism to cause changes to the recorded images? I usually travel with film cameras.
  2. Thanks for the help! I decided to bring yen from CA and save any left after this trip(if there is any!) for my next trip. Thanks agani.
  3. Pentax 430 RS is great. Lithium rechargeable batteries are small. Secret to good battery use is to keep it warm. Wrap in plastic wrap, keep close to your body to keep them warm..Rewarm frequently. Take several. Shoot quickly between warming. Nikon coolpix 5700 is a bit pricey, and won't fit in your pocket, but you can buy disposable batteries for it and it has 5 megapixels and 8x zoom!
  4. I'm coming from California to snowboard in Happo-one and Niseko. My first time. Where is the best place to get my us dollars changed to yen? Would I get a decent rate in Tokyo? Or would it be better to change it in CA? Thanks
  5. Thanks for your responses. I decided to stay in Tokyo the first night, then head out the next day for Hakuba. Then on to meet my friend in Akita and then to Niseko Hirafu for the rest of my trip.
  6. I plan to arrive in Narita 1-29, 4:25pm. I want to go to Happo-One and stay at OH international, on the 29th, snowboard on the 30th, then on the 31st, catch a train to Akita Prefecture, to meet a friend by 2pm on the 1st of Feb. What's the fastest way to get there? Is this feasible? After I get to Akita, we plan to go to Niseko Hirafu for a few days of boarding there.
