The 'target for the season' poll
SKI replied to rach's topic in Snow talk, trip reports, Japan avalanche & backcountry
A very poor start (just 2 so far) mostly because of work but hoping to hit about 30 by the end of the season. -
I wish she would lose. She's very annoying.

SKI replied to montoya's topic in Snow talk, trip reports, Japan avalanche & backcountry
Some nice photos on these, don't know where lots of them are though. Seems to be a lot of Niigata, right? Love that bottom one! -
I'd go for a new one. You'll probably be very happily surprised at how much they have improved since 4 years ago.

Creative apparently "declares war" on Apple.... These could turn out to be some very famous last words, but at a press conference earlier today Sim Wong Hoo, the CEO of Creative (the company that makes all those Zen MP3 players like the Zen Touch and the Zen Micro) literally declared war on Apple, announcing plans to try to out-spend and out-market Steve Jobs next year with a $100 million advertising and marketing designed to dethrone the iPod, and that “the MP3 war has started”. Might be tough, given that over 90% of new hard drive-based players sold in the US sport an Apple logo.

Some people seem to forget that not all ads are made for all people. Just because you don't like them, it doesn't mean that they are not effective in the way they are made to be. On the other hand it is sometimes very hard to believe that some of them out there could even begin to appeal to anyone.

Only 1 no expence spared pick?
SKI replied to Mudguts's topic in Snow talk, trip reports, Japan avalanche & backcountry
I know you said snowboarding, but in my case - skiing - boots really are such an important part of the setup. I spend my first few years back when with some terrible boots (I didn't know they were that bad at the time). I couldn't believe the incredible difference when I got my first expensive, custom fit ones done. -

SKI replied to sanjo's topic in Snow talk, trip reports, Japan avalanche & backcountry
There seem to be quite a lot up there on that east coast of Hokkaido. -
Better than no bottom at all though, right?

Yeah and that was the first thing on the national news just now.

Skiing under lifts the POLL
SKI replied to peaker's topic in Snow talk, trip reports, Japan avalanche & backcountry
Some resorts have official runs that go under lift lines - they're made that way. Of course it depends on the resort whether there are runs like this or not. The issue here is of riders going into areas where they are 'not supposed to go' - ie. off of the official courses. There are reasons why these areas are "off limits", but some people (in their apparently "color world") seem to think that they can decide themselves whether to go there or not, regardless of any rules saying otherwise. A resort might decide to open an area that was previously closed for whatever reason. If th -

Oh, right. And you're not, right. But as for the "predictable" accusation....Stinger! And you were the one accusing others of "calling names". I thought you were under the impression that you were above all that?? -

You can do what the hell you want to do. (Thats your general way of thinking, right, so why doesn't that apply here?) I'm only responding to your comments/questions. -
Skiing under lifts the POLL
SKI replied to peaker's topic in Snow talk, trip reports, Japan avalanche & backcountry
Wham, that sounds like an ATTACK to me. Oh but I forgot, you are entitled to attack (because you have "done so much for members of the forum" or some similar bullshit like that) but others cannot give you any back, right? Quote: So now your my teacher too. Er, no. Quote: getting a slap on the wrist for not proofing my posts. Er, no. Quote: Sorry master Ill try harder to not make mistakes. Im only a high and rightous Canadian being set right by my "non rule breaking master". Me master has never broken one tiny rule in his life. WTF? -

So "your" high and righteous now then? Your posts can be confusing (and hard to read as well). I'll try to keep up with you though. You failed to point out where my nasty "attack" was. Like I said, though, you do amuse me. -
