  1. I agree. Add to that the fact that Sapporo is a really good city in itself. Nice place.
  2. Yes 7 days is definitely good to book, unfortunately not everyone can do that.
  3. With the bus as sufficient as it is I doubt you will see plans for rail.
  4. It's at the Windsor Hotel at Lake Toya I believe.
  5. There you go..... good reputation < > joke. Pick your favorite!
  6. Sounds like a good idea to me UK-dudes. Go for it. I might be interested in doing something similar myself.
  7. It's a nice place and as has been said it is not going to satisfy people looking for advanced terrain. For gentler slopes though it is really good - not busy, not many 'experts'. Not tried the heli-ski they have going on there but heard it has a good reputation.
  8. Really limited though. October is a good time for you to look.
  9. I still have the first skis I tried many years ago and actually had a go on them this season. I think they are best left in my memory. Shiny you should try to persuade your friend to try some new gear.
  10. I did Kagura yesterday (though a different yesterday than your original post!) Conditions were
  11. Was up in Kagura yesterday, great it was - lots of fresh fluffy powder on offer. It was quite busy for a mid-week, everyone had the same idea. Who would have thought?
  12. I find in the neighbourhood where I live people tend to keep themselves to themselves a lot. Basic greetings but not much more than that. If there was some disaster I don't think I would recognise lots of them.
  13. Well it sure hasn't been a great season, I'm sure for most people. Though with work and things in a way it's good that it is this season that isn't the most tempting. I'm hoping to have a lot more time available next time round.
  14. I have been this year. Work has been busy and so my changes have been fewer and I've also been more tired so at times the motivation has stopped me from making the effort. I'm hoping to get out a few more times though.
  15. I heard there was special pizza there too. Good city.
  16. I think the sign basically says "go at your own risk and you'll be paying for any rescue" or something along those lines.
  17. I have always wanted to go to the Grand Canyon, but never made it yet. My friend recommended the helicopter flights you can get as the best way to see (at least part of) it. Any other recommendations? This new skywalk things look like it would be a fun experience, but rather limited.
  18. I have had a few trips to Asia out of miles - Hong Kong, Taiwan. Next up hopefully Malaysia, though I need to rack up a fair few more before I can get that.
  19. I have a few Japanese friends who use that software you mention igloo and I have seen it in action. Seems to cover what Norton does and it seems to not be heavy either. Not giving up 5000 yen or so a year for updates sounds good as well. Anyone use Trend Micro Anti Spyware. I'm a few days into the trial version but it seems to be pretty good.
  20. I never watch movies I really want to see on a flight. The small screen, the lack of comfort, the terrible sound + the sound of the plane - can't enjoy it. Not a movie but I have been renting out a series called Prison Break which is quite entertaining.
  21. Sounds rather suspicious. You'd think they would want to be open on a fine day like today was. On the Gala site now they are saying that it might be windy enough tomorrow as well to affect lift operations and they'll announce whether they will open or not before 7am. Just taking a quick look at yahoo weather it doesn't seem to be saying it will be particularly windy tomorrow. (and unfortunately it says rain)
  22. They don't check on every lift but going up on the ropeways at Mitsumata they always seem to check. I can't think of anywhere offhand in Niigata that has electronice. A fair few in Nagano.
  23. Yes earlier the better in the morning is what you should be aiming for.
