  1. Hate to disagree.. but Ross Rebliate (sp?) was hardly an embarassment except to his handlers and the Snowboard Federation for more than a few moments.... He was then and is still now regarded as a cult hero to most boarders in Canada and the USA... I am a Canadian from Vancouver originally and the sentiment in Whistler - his home town - was that he was a hometown hero... Recieved a key to the city etc.., etc.., - post "MEDIA" fiasco He of course did retain his Gold Medal and I think that a little toke couldn't possibly compare to the embarassment of more recent events... like the Br
  2. Maybe some of you guys coming to Niseko this year would like to try it at Ohkurayama or Miyanomori jumps here in Sapporo... I could check out the regulations / security ??... Anyone want to be **REALLY** famous? ~ or is that infamous??
  3. Last night, after picking the wife up from work late, we walked through Odori and saw that leaves are starting to fall from the trees.. This morning woke up to a cold 8 degree wind blowing through my window in Sapporo... Sure feels a lot more like snow than it did a week ago.. With a clear night and a big Harvest Moon tonight, I am sure it will be downright chilly...
  4. Correct.... I can't wait to get the beds done and then fit the boots ~ ~ they are already the best feeling stock fit my feet have ever had before having to get my priest to excercise the demons from them... Also the realistic twin canting system has already cured a bad alignment problem I had because of a torn up ACL and medial miniscotomy.. Heck, I might even learn to like these boots... Cheers....
  5. Thanks Mogski... Yes the HF3 liners work the same way I geuss, in that they can be redone over again.... The one difference is that HF3 uses a electrical transformer to send electricity through a coil or something in the the liner to heat and "expand" the fitting material... It doesn't use a heat gun or a easy bake oven type set up... And yes I would think that the footbeds should be inserted post-heating process... Cheers,
  6. I have bought new boots for the season - Technica Icons with "Hot Form 3" liners - and need to purchase footbeds as well.... Comformable seems to be one of the best available and so I will go with them - but here is my question... Does anyone know if putting the footbeds inside the "SH3" liners when heated will ruin the fit of the footbeds? I have asked this question in the shop and have gotten a mixed response - NO it won't hurt them and It shouldn't hurt them..... I am adamant about using the footbeds when the liner is formed or otherwise the fit will be altered when the beds are u
  7. Mogski.... Don't mean to piddle in your cereal.. You are in Tokyo and perhaps the Frontier Spirit we talk about here in Sapporo is slightly different than on Honshu but... I have made 5 major purchases at Bic duty free plus I have helped freinds who have visited to do the same on 3 or 4 occasions.... In EVERY single instance none of us where ever asked for a plane ticket ONLY a passport which indicated that a 90 day stamp... My experience has been that sometimes it's a distinct Disadvantage to be FLUENT in japanese... I certainly wish I was.. but IF I was... I wouldn't flaunt i
  8. To give you a reference... I purchased a Olympus E-20 5 mp digital camera last winter before returning home to Canada for a quick visit... At that time I was on a tourist visa so I saved the tax with duty free purchase at Bic Camera in Sapporo... This camera would have cost me about $ 3,200 cdn - after taxes - back in Vancouver but I bought it in Sapporo, saved the tax, received 13% cash back from a points card system and then landed the camera - all duties and taxes paid - in Canada for $ 1,720 cdn...... Damn near half price!!! There are many deals to be had - but it sure helps to
  9. As previous posts have said both Bic Camera and Yodabashi are part of a National Chain - so prices at these stores should be the same in Sapporo as in Tokyo... Both Bic and Yodabashi are within a stones throw of Sapporo Station.. The advantage of buying here in Sapporo is that you could always take some footage of your trip to Niseko.... And yes, the duty free aspect will save you the 5% tax... All you need is your passport - as long as you are here under a 90 day tourist visa then no problem... I have never seen or experienced anyone asking to see a plane ticket... BTW.. how ma
