  1. So if they require chains on a 4WD car (unheard of here) then do they make you put them on the front, the back, or both?
  2. Quote: Went up with barok on deebee on Saturday Both of you guys on Deebee huh? Too bad I missed that one
  3. Getting back to your original question, I would have to say that boarding is better on the knees. I have a chronic knee problem in my left knee. It is very rare that I will come home from a day on the mountain with a sore knee, yet sometimes just going for a short run will make it flare up. I haven't skied in a few years, but remember it being more of an issue then. I know it is hard to do but I would really consider takin some time off and lettng that thing get back to normal. Knee injuries suck, and if not jumping the gun now can save you problems down the road then don't go out
  4. That is lame...but not exactly suprising. One thing I have definitely learned from my time on this board is that Japanese beaurocracies and those in decision making positions appear to make decisions and policies contrary to those I would consider sensible...but I digress. Klubhead, if you can afford them then get the tires. Chains suck.
  5. Oh geeze, you are askin for a world of trouble (or at least slobbering) with that question...but I will go ahead and field it for you. The Mile High club is a club you can call yourself a member of if you successfully finish eating a 12" submarine sandwich on an airplane...or in this case a gondola.
  6. Karl, What's up man? I take it you're in WA state not District? Not too much boarding in DC. So where are you at man? Where do you ride? I live in Redmond and ride at Stevens, but I'm headed to Japan this Winter. What mag did you see the site in?
  7. I would say snow tires are far superior. Especially if you have a 4WD car. Even with decent all season tires and 4WD you should be all right in all but the worst of conditions. But chains totally suck. They suck to put on and you have to drive slow! I avoid them at most costs. If I was shopping for snow tires and had a Rodeo I would look for non-studded traction tires.
  8. Blow chunks = haku Pretty much all of the ski areas in Washington still use the sticker lift passes with the bent wire. Nice for clipping and selling at the end of the day. More of the big resorts I have been to outside of WA are using the barcoded ones you zip-tie on. This is way better for getting multiple people on the mountain with two passes. How to get 10 people snowbaording all day for $8 each (Works best at a place like Blackcomb where they only check your pass to get on the gondola and you do not go down until the end of the day) All 10 people chip in their $8 for a
  9. Amazing how much can change in just a few weeks. Some were complaining about it still being way too hot in early October. Still not snowing in Washington. At this rate I won't be able to board until Japan in January.
  10. Whoops...Didn't know there was a midstation on this ride!
  11. Why do you have to be so disrespectful Markie Actually I am a snowboarder and don't terribly mind moguls. Don't exactly like them but don't hate them either. Cheese on the other hand...
  12. How awesome is this game?! My high score is 64,660. My best single round score is 16,880.

  14. So I guess that would be the 2 miles a minute club. Just be sure to wear a helmet, eh Miteyak?
  15. Oh that thing is awesome Mogski! All right Ocean, here is what you do: 1. Hold down the space bar. 2. Keep holding the space bar and hold the down arrow key. You will see the meter fill up. 3. At the jump let go of the space bar but continue to hold the arrow key. Here you can hold one of the other buttons for a grab. 4. Let go of the arrow to stop flipping and land. This should get you jibbing.
  16. This is ridiculous! No one is telling you that you *have* to go skiing if you don't want to. We are just talking about what creates that attitude, and what a resort could do to get at people like you and cause them to want to come spend money. SKI, you say Quote: Do you not comprehend that many people would not go now even if everywhere were open with more snow than there actually is now? That is the irrational behavior we are talking about. No, I don't comprehend that could be rational. It does not make sense that someone would not want to go skiing when the snow is at its bes
  17. Here is a thread on the very subject: http://www.skijapanguide.com/cgi-bin/ubbcgi/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=1;t=001818#000001 Kinda strange...the person who started that thread, that is.
  18. I would say I go through about 1 board a season (Avg 50+ days). I could ride it longer, but by then a new one makes a noticable difference. Boots and bindings can last more like two seasons. That is unless they break and I get free warranty replacement!
  19. There are only about 10 places to ride in Washington State. The land area of Washington State is roughly equal to half that of Honshuu. None of these places are 'resorts.' Some have a nearby motel, but none have large hotels or any kind of amenities that you think of when you picture a ski resort. About half of these are 1.5-2 hours from the greater Seattle area (population of are around 1.5 million). The other half are that distance or less from another sizeable city (100,000 or more). Most offer night skiing, very popular to the person that drives up after work. All of these ski a
  20. I think the reasoning that nori-chan put forth is valid. Some people have a very limited amount of money or time off which translates to them having to pick their vacations wisely. If they only get up once or twice I can see why they would want to wait for the base to be better or for more runs to be operational. Alas, it is the job of the resorts to market to these people and say "Yeah, you only have a limited amount of money...but there has never been a better time to spend it!"
  21. I was checking out a Quicksilver jacket this year. At first I was like "Quicksilver?!" but it actually seemed pretty well made. I think they have dramatically improved their line this year. This is not an endorsement as I only tried it on.
  22. I think this may be less complicated when it comes to snowboarding. Usually more money equals a better board. There are, of course, exceptions. These are the board manufacturers that are all marketing and hype. But when it comes to a respectable board manufacturer, a more expensive board will most likely be of higher quality. Definitely want to stay away from the budget boards you only see in the hardware stores and giant sporting goods chains. (Unless you are a real beginner and don't care about becoming more than that)
  23. I would recommend against getting goggles with perscription lenses. It is just way too easy to lose a pair of goggles.
