  1. It would be so much easier to show you what I mean, but I will attempt to literalize. I ride regular so my left foot is forward. This foot is used to point where I want to go (I mean point the board not my toes). My right/back leg and foot are used as a rudder. Two separate controls. One is the left to right wagging action of the leg. The other is the up and down tilting or "edging" action of the foot. These two together control the turning. It is probably not a first day lesson, but after you have a feeling for slipping down the hill you can start to think about it like this. The fr
  2. Ha! I was going to post that when I started playing the Little Jibbing Ski Dude game but I didn't have the link, just the game downloaded. It is fun but way too random. Little Jibbing Ski Dude is a game of skill.
  3. Jared, you know that when you edit your post there is an option to just delete the entire post? This comes in handy when you mess up and realize it right away but don't want the [this post was edited] line on it. Copy the post, create a new one, fix the mistake on the new one and delete the old one.
  4. You kidding? MTV play like 30 minutes of videos a day and they are the same 4 songs. MTV2 is about 50% shows now too. And is there anything worse than the commercials on MTV/MTV2? There is a digital cable MTV channel that changes its format from month to month now (Hard Rock, Hits, R&. It is 100% videos with no commercials.
  5. Whoa! I just Got a 82,900! No faith? The key to those ones like the Rocket and the Illegal (X+C) are to hold them for the first rotaion and then switch to something easier to land like the Mute (C+V). You get double the trick pts (although you lose a little style). I find that if I wait until the lip of the quarter pipe I slow down too much to get good air. I think you need to release when you have a lot of speed. I am very inconsistent on that jump. What are you doing? Another little trick: After the second round of points have turned green for the quarter pipe hit,
  6. Wow thats impressive. So I have just been puttin some time in. I had a single run score of 21,480! But I ate it on the last of 5 and couldn't quite get back to that level. My score for 4 runs only was 69,000. Oh man. What tricks are you doing (or keys)? My normal run main jump is a double back flip. I try to get in two 2-key grabs. (Usually X+C and C+V) followed by a double backflip on the 1/4 pipe hit with a 2-key hold and sometimes a 2nd 1-key hold if I get enough air. The 1/4 pipe hit often becomes a single trick single back flip though. I need consistency there. It depen
  7. How do you surprise a goat? I think a cow is a pretty slim chance. What about a really big non flying big bird? Probably not...It is really tough. Humans aren't much for fighting without weapons. We are kinda soft, slow, and without anything too sharp. Ooh! I got it. How about a Python or other large snake? Really big snakes rely on surprise and aren't too fast right? Just get the drop on the head. Not great odds, but not impossible.
  8. Of course Terje. I really like Todd Richards, Travis Parker, Andrew Crawford. Peter Line is an amazing jibber. Kier Dillon in the pipe - such style. So many good riders. I have to think that the best riders are involved in the commerce of snowboarding Miteyak. It would be too hard to be the best and not be known. That kind of skill attracts attention. Deebee - no, but you could say "working at during that time"...eh?
  9. Volkl making snowboards is news to me. Confirmed it on their site though. Large line of boards too.
  10. Stickers sounds like the way to go. I have seen some places online that will do it pretty inexpensively. Can't recall where now.
  11. Yeah, the pics are nice, but too small. Here is a request SJ-Dudes: How about making the images link to larger ones? Runnin low on disk space... cuz I got the bandwidth?! Same goes for the Members pages. Pretty nice idea but the small pics really takes away from it.
  12. This may be a little advanced for the first day but the single thing that made me really get the hang of snowboarding was when I started to think of pointing the board where I wanted to go and using my back leg/edge control as a rudder. Just like a boat. Front foot just keeps you pointed, back foot makes you turn. Does this make sense or should I elaborate?
  13. lol - Hey I got a serious question for you guys. What do you think is the largest animal that you could kill with you bare hands? I am serious. None of this I could poke an elphants eyes out and it would bleed to death shit. The elephant would f-ck you up. Bare nuckle fight, no shoes, just your hands, feet, and wits. Maybe a lamb? How bout a cow? thoughts?
  14. Or a "hard-core/industrial" band http://artists.iuma.com/IUMA/Bands/Aural_Assault/
  15. I particularly like this place: http://www.usoutdoorstore.com/ They claim to ship internationally. They have a great selection of boards including many from Burton. They also carry Option...which is way cool. I checked out the ebay canada thing. Seems to be quite a few good deals including your dude Nigel. I am looking all over for a particular jacket right now but cannot find it...or even a picture of the right color. It is the K2 Paradise Tech in whatever they call grey (slate or granite or - geeze I can't even find that right now. K2's site is so lame!) in case so
  16. This is not the first time I have had this conversation - Which is better Sex or Snowboarding? I like Ocean's reasoning. I think that thinking about sex is better than thinking about boarding, but actually going snowboarding is better than the actual act of sex.
  17. Yeah the suby with the cracked back window had an interesting assortment of fungi growing on the back seat. My own little biology project. When it was particularly wet the sea-monkeys came out of their castle. Always a lovely scent.
  18. I read a little blurb in the paper on a mortar (or small rocket propelled grenade) attack near a US military base outside of Tokyo yesterday. Is this getting a lot of airplay over there?
  19. Sounds like it's definitely destined for the PS2 to me
  20. To tell you the truth I was thinking it would be fun to try skiing again (after a 5 year absence). I used to think I was a pretty good skier until I had been boarding half a dozen times. I wonder what it would be like now. Chances are I would break my leg.
  21. My friend has an early 90's 4WD Isuzu Rodeo. It is decent in the snow but not extraordinary. I used to have a 91 4WD Subaru Wagon that was an absolute snow beast. I could drive that thing anywhere. Same problem as Ocean's Isuzu though; one of the windows in the back didn't quite close
  22. It's cheap I guess. But not good. But I would say that no American Macrobrews are particularly good. Some people do like shitty beer though.
  23. Dude, Deebee...You have BAD LUCK. I feel for you man. (Don't get too close, I said feel *for* you )
