I got it second hand, its a singapore version.
I played double dragon on arcade, that was quite cool. not really much point playing those old skool games though when you have so many great new ones out.

The attitude to racism is totally different here than it is in the west. In the west we are extremely sensitive to it where as here it is a still something 'new' and therefore people get away with stuff but also I think the level is not so extreme. I think racism is, however unfashionable this idea may be, human nature to some extent. But it's not so bad here really is it? Ive never had anyone attack me or even say anything racist to me in an aggresive way in 5 years, compare that to the UK where even today people get beaten up for their skin color (that includes whites).
Back on topic - one day all the bigot oyajis will be begging for an open door policy so they can get their pension and the economy can avoid collapse - at that time things will change bigtime and it will be very interesting.
Or, maybe the descendents of the old samurai are secretly building a bomb and are gonna wipe out 'gaikoku' one day and rule the earth.

Yeh but if its a hybrid then it means it was EVEN MORE EXPENSIVE than a regular Cayanne and therefore the driver is rich/strong/bigman etc. Additionally, the driver is doing his bit for the environment unlike the rest of you no-goods.

He was a bit out of line i have to say, it's not cricket to be airing the dirty linen in public like that.

Doesnt surpise me much, its all an old boys club in this country, the old bigots at the top creaming all the money and taking advantage of your average Japanese's naivety. Every week theres another politician getting done for stealing money - but do they ever go to prison or do anything beyond saying sorry? its ludicrous.

level 2, again. not really studying so much but have put in a dull concerted effort over the past 8 months.

No gaijin allowed signs: http://www.debito.org/roguesgallery.html
This is an interesting article that discusses levels of crime in japan by gaijin and non-japanese: http://www.jref.com/society/foreign_crime_in_japan.shtml
If I remember rightly, it makes the key distinction between a crime (has victim) and an offence (e.g. visa overstay), then goes on to say that if you look at true 'crimes' (not offenses), then Koreans and euro-americans are actually better behaved than Japanese.
Quote:If we concentrate on real crimes...here is the real crime rate :
# Chinese (0.428%)
# Brazilians (0.351%)
# Japanese (0.291%)
# Russians (0.271%)
# Philippinos (0.101%)
# Thais (0,051%)
# Koreans (0.024%)
# Britons (0.021%)
# Americans (0.016%)
Obviously the rate is based on crimes/person of that nationality.

If you want to say something different you can just say like this:
"evil is a word made up of 4 letters. the first letter is e and it ends in l. if you write it backwards it spells 'live'. the word 'devil' is quite similar to 'evil'" etc - ie dont get into the semantics of it.
-
"In ethics, evil refers to behavior, which does harm, is dishonest, or fails to honor agreements."
I think that definition is wrong.
Evil is more like 'knowingly and purposefully causing harm for no valid purpose'
In everyday life I think it is mainly used in fictional circumstances, such as to describe a character in a story, or as a joke 'that fart was evil' etc.

McClown is going to have his guts ripped out by The Sun tommorow, I'm looking forward to what they come up with.

I resurrect this thread because I notice the yen has been gaining a lot this week and is now 223 vs the GBP.
I always used to use Golloyds but I notice they are giving a rate of 226 today and I want to check what rate the post office would give. Since the changeover the link to their exchange rate page is dead (http://www.yu-cho.japanpost.jp/e_index.htm).
Does anyone know the URL for todays exchange rates offered by the post office?

Oh...my...god...
I think McClown and all the players should give back their salaries. McClown should be exiled to the Fawklands.

I used to live in matsumoto and one time I flew to Sapporo, however we took the train to Tokyo and flew from Haneda as that worked out cheaper somehow.

its being taken over by gaijin which may explain why some interest would wane. also asashoryu was terrible for the sport as he was too strong (michael shumacher effect) but now a few others are coming up and it is getting more interesting again. itll be awesome when he comes back from his ban in the next tournie.

I would reccomend the web jobs too, though they are generally kansai/kanto of course. I've seen some web jobs going for the real estate agents and similar in niseko, though they are obviously few and far between, and not always going to be LAMP based.
But good luck to you, maybe you will be one of the lucky ones who don't have to make these kind of compromises.

Depends on whether the Russians programmed the software or not

Yeh why not, he turned down wigan so obviously looking for something different. I think he quit wigan cos of stress, so a national team job might be just the thing with its reduced fixture schedule etc.
I see the Isrealies saved us and we are now looking like favourites to win the group

Would be nice if it was actually on TV over here. I hate squatting over some crappy sopcast feed in 120x120 resolution with crap sound and regular freezes. Why cant we have tv-on-demand over the internet that we pay for and can get in decent quality?

Perhaps the noisy eating was the straw that broke the camels back?

Yep "shes hot"

I guess when you reach a certain age maybe you start to treasure the time apart and freedom If you become an oyaji and get into the hostess bars, then it would be great I guess.

It seems like often people get moved for little rhyme or reason. Its weird, almost like a kind of torture or 'listen to the man' kind of crazy over-authoritarian.
I guess it makes you feel 'lucky' when you are not moved away from family and you feel happier about spending every waking moment slaving for your boss.

I heard that is often a kind of punishment they dish out when they want someone to quit.

"I cannot say what I think until they say they are interested. Tell the FA to come and get me. We will have to wait and see, but I rule nothing out."
Well I think thats it done and dusted, its just a matter of time now.
