"Used to be"??!? it still IS among the working class youths of the UK!

Another example of what I call 'Karaoke Japan'.

yep thats right. I think Opera is really bleeding edge, and that is actually why I dont use it! I just wait for the best stuff to be taken up by FF.
They must be quite pxxed off about it though, they have the best browser, the best ideas, with the lowest market share
-
My point is that if you use Opera the site will still function, but the display may look different to how the designer intended sometimes. You would never know unless you regularly visit the site with different browsers. Its less of a problem with big sites that design/test properly. Thats not Operas fault of course and it is a great browser.
Actually Firefox has (had?) a similar problem where forms and javascript break on some sites. I noticed this a lot after FF2 came out, but recently it has been OK so maybe they patched it somehow. I came close to dropping FF for a while cos just too often my form uploads were failing etc. The only site I notice a problem on now is the XBOX360 site, they force you to use IE to look at the image gallery!
robbright - you mean Opera has a kind of agent switcher so you can make opera run IE or firefox engine?

I've had my Dell Latitude notebook for 7 years and never had a problem with it! It still gets used 10x more than my desktop. That little sucker has basically been going for 8 hours a day for 7 years.

Firefox is great.
I wouldnt use Opera because it has less than 1% market share and many websites are not designed for it so they may display incorrectly.
Most web developers despise IE because it is not standard compliant, meaning they have to hack their designs to get them work on IE. But it has over 90% market share (at least for my company sites) so you have to design for it.

Hehe yeh, I guess if a war breaks out the enemy can take out the Japanese battleships by sending out the fishing boats! What could be easier? As you say, shocking.

Theres so many troops down there, things are bound to happen from time to time. Its like the infinite monkeys/infinite time thing. Put a huge number (1000s, tens of thousands?) of young men in one place over an extended period of time and stuff will happen, regardless of nationality or location. Thats not to condone it in any way, but to expect nothing to ever happen is stupid and naive.
I think the real problem is that the locals simply dont like having their town overrun by foreign soliders, which is something I can sympathise with.

This guy is an absolute nutter. Has he found one person to support him other than the TV networks and advertisers? Surely this is something you should lose your job for, what a moron.
-
ah...spot the typical english guy who totally forgets about scotlands existence

Yeh no trouble. I reckon Arsenal will be the only UK team to go out this round now. The got a big test coming over in Milan, I don't think they will have the balls to handle it.

I used to use my left foot all the time when I first switched to automatic, but I got used to it. I still reach for the handbrake too, despite having a foot handbrake now. The space where the handbrake should be is great for storing stuff though so its convenient. The thing I love about an automatic is it is so smooth changing gears.
I dont miss the 'driving' aspect of doing the manual work of changing gears at all, but thats probably because I have zero boy-racer ambitions, I'm not interested in engine size and add-ons, and I drive very carefully, economically, and friendlilely. For me a car is a practical instrument to get from a to b, I quite enjoy driving but I dont get a big buzz from it. If I did, I would of course get a manual though, and customize/tune the parts.
I would like to know the statistics of which cars get in more accidents as a ratio. I would guess that automatics have more minor accidents and manuals have more serious/fatal ones.
It will be interesting to see in 10 years if the west embraces automatics as the default shift-type as Japan has.

Sometimes you roll back a little on a hill start in a manual. It's supposed to hold you still but it doesnt work on steep hills I find.

I'd agree with the 34.75% for JP girls - as an average score. It depends on location. In somewhere like Shibuya where all the young OLs are, it has to be more like 80%, but in asswipe inaka like where I live I can go the gym (where you would expect a fair few hotties to be) and still only find 2% attractive.
I'd lump French girls in with the US/UK ones, I dont see much difference there.
I'd add Chinese and Philipino girls to the list too at a score of 7%.

I noticed Crouch didnt touch the this is anfield sign on his way down the tunnel, tut-tut. I feel bad for him though, he is class and he always has an impact when he comes on. I guess he is holding out for the summer and the new manager that will come in (I think this will likely happen, even if the club changes ownership again).
-
That was great. 2-0 bring it on.
I think its the first time I ever saw a ref clearly biased towards Liverpool, he had a total stinker! Crouch was incredible when he came on, we went up 2 gears.

I believe in the UK now you can add things like a HDTV, fridge, furniture to your mortgage when buying the house.
-
I used to hate the thought of an automatic but now I have one I love it and would never go back to manual. I really dont see the point in having the hassle of changing gears, its just unnecessary manual labour. You can override the gears on an automatic in the rare occasions you need to. Its great having hands free to change CDs, play with the navi, smack the kids etc

My screen res is 1920 x 1200.
I havent tried it yet, but I imagine that at 800 x 600 you will be able to get more accurate with the mouse.
-
TB - what did you think of that princess masako book?
-
I found that game difficult on my monster monitor. Im gonna reset the resolution to 800x600 and try again. I got level 8 but I lost s many points purely because I couldnt move the mouse 1 pixel from say france to UK, never mind london to manchester.

Sometimes its not obvious what the reason is, then one day you come to that road from another angle and see the reason.
For example, you may want to join that road from a side road on the other side of a dip in the road. Without a speed limit, when you pull out into the road someone could scream over the dip in the road and crash into you.

Probably stating the obvious now to most on here, but people who make viruses generally do it to create zombie PCs they can use to attack websites etc (they blackmail big sites to pay them not to take them down etc).
To maximise their chances they go for the most popular OS/Software which means MS/IE. I wouldnt say its because MS/IE is not secure per se, more that it is targetted more. Anyway, its a good reason to use a proper browser.
