Been to Nozawa first time last weekend with my friends.. all skiers Blizzard came and we had nice 60cm+ snow everywhere had a real fantastic time, especially on closed Ushikubi course - there were untracked powder everywhere apart from that I found the place was bit flat... and lots of traversing.. wondering if its any fun for boarders..? or was there lots of off piste opportunities I over looked?? I saw a steep shute going down on right side of the Skyline... was that good?

Happo avalanche
snoflake replied to Ocean11's topic in Snow talk, trip reports, Japan avalanche & backcountry
Yup 2 boarders got out of avalance as it was only 10-15cm surface avalanche and gone downhill safely with their friends.. so no terrible outcome! phew!! 10-15cm surface avie of 10-15m wide, for 700-800m.... I wouldn't liked to be caught 600m below where it started though!! -

... from last year's memory... The notice at the entrance used to say, "..beyond this point is out of ski resort responsibility, please enter at your own risk, it is required to have mountain entry application granted by local authority to enter beyond this point....etc. etc." I saw on yahoo headline a snowboarder from Tokyo went missing on sunday was spotted yesterday by rescue heli. He has frostbite on his face and hands but nothing serious. Glad he came back to the normal world without too much harm on him I want to do the top 'secret' run one day, too -

Go GrandPhoenix in Okushiga if you have enough money.... their dinner is from 8000- (!!) but in a really nice environment, good food. They do some a la carte, menus, though be prepared for damage! They also have great log fire bar with plush furnitures. I heard also Chinese Restaurat in Maruike Hotel(??) is good, too. -

Nat I am getting wierd on Reibo-byo, too... rather serious! My body is adjusted to outside sweltering heat.. then coming into fridge to work is really killing me... I've got fleece socks, blanket over me with cardigan on.. and still cold... drinking hot tea.. hot bath is a must every night... Been to doctor on wednesday and been confirmed that my metablism is at a state of near death (too low blood pressure, low body temp, slow pulse,, etc. etc.. ), unfortunately this Air-Con blues triggered confusion with with my thyroid been operated on few years back! Now.. I am back on

1 ring thing is the latest hacking/scum... When you call back, they will charge your account with astoronomical bills.. so don't call back 1 ring thing Apparently NTT has their services down with this and trying to take legal action against them as well as cutting their services off

The leash
snoflake replied to miteyak's topic in Snow talk, trip reports, Japan avalanche & backcountry
not too sure myself.. what exactly happend.. All I saw was this person.. sreaming his head off.. red in a face.. skidding down the slope and his board was completely off.. He had leash flipping around his ankle and the board was flying.. he was flying... Must be one of the hopeless case.. though I don't want be the receiving end of runnaway board! ...just an example, may be bit extreme .. not too worried for the capable/artistic boarders.I know most people here are totally different kinds to that sod! -

Saw a novice snowboarder falling and flying his board high in the air with full speed.. end up skidding and rocketing down the hill... in NAAEEEBA Could hurt someone seriously that way.. I tried to stop the board coming down but it was too fast.. someone else caught it down hill where little flatter... (Imagine a 6-years-old bum-skiing downhill invisible from above.. ) All you Powder Gods.. have no worry I suppose?
