  1. A season and how good it is is made up of many factors - one of the main ones being the weather of course. This season was not (is not) as dumpy as last season. BUT for me, this season was much better because of where I went, how often I went, who I went with, and yes - the great conditions that I experienced for the most part. It has been ace, fab and brill.
  2. Sure am. Wish I was living in Nagano, but no - I have to make the treks in the winter to the snow. But certainly worth it. Next trip - Hakuba again next Sun, Mon, Tues.
  3. Hmmmm It never seems like fun to me - more like just an exercise ala going to the gym or jogging. Perhaps I should give it a go.
  4. I really don't mind. If I did, I would not still be here in Japan, because it's unavoidable. I find that for the most part it is not meant in a bad way - and many Japanese don't even consider that it could be.
  5. If you're not being sarc-ky, I think you're ACE too. So which day was the ace-est for you today Ocean
  6. World's Largest Indoor Snowdome To Close in September The world's largest indoor snow ski centre, the SSAWS dome in Tokyo, will close on later this year. A spokesperson for SSAWS confirmed the slope will close on September 30th. The ten-storey high centre, visible for miles around, opened in 1994 following a $400 million (US) investment and has remained the giant of indoor ski centres ever since. The ski slope was built in an earthquake zone on reclaimed land in Tokyo Harbour. Special construction techniques make it earthquake proof, in part to prevent collapse and allegedly also
  7. 4 days in early Feb in Hakuba. Took in Happo, 47.Goryu, Cortina, Tsugaike. Ace!
  8. I think you'll find most of us have. Don't know what youre missing. Or maybe you do if you're on this forum! Hi!
  9. I will probably go on another 3 2-day trips this season, and then it's the boiling season.
  10. Thanks Nat. Bit too far for me, I'm afraid. Is it me or is this forum getting busier....?
  11. Depends on the resort Vivien. Some have more than others, but you can generally get by - no need to worry!
  12. Not counting all the little chichai local resorts (surely they don't count), the one-of-the-main resorts I have enjoyed least was Sun Alpina just south of Hakuba. The snow and weather when I went may have been a big factor, but it really didn't impress me at all. Off now, bye!
  13. Good to see new snow. I'm off again for another 4 day jaunt across Nagano. See ya next week all and have a good one
  14. First post hey, unregistered "the straw factory". You seem to be really rattled by the innocent comment I just wrote. Some people, hey. Just wanted to show my appreciation for the huge help this sight has been to me this season. Don't have to explain myself to you anyway. Have a wonderful day.
  15. Agreed with frannyo on this one. The season has almost 2 more months to run at some places. Yes, the snow may be close to terrible by then, but you can choose whether to go out or not. If you keep that in mind, you can really enjoy yourself in the fair heat of May even. Up to you.
  16. Far too much I'm afraid, looking at my bank book. But take out all the travel, hotels etc and the lift tickets probably between 50,000-100,000 yen depending on what I can wangle.
  17. My Japanese friend introduced me to a manager at 47 the other week - forgot to mention this - and he had a stern face and was saying "kibishiiiii", "kibishiiiii" when asked about how the season was. Grumpy old fella, but certainly "komatte iru"...!
