There is a youth hostel at the base of Annupuri run by a guy named YO. Food included and Onsen everynight. I flew from Colorado USA and had a rail pass and it was surprisingly affordable. The people where really friendly , a female volley ball team was staying there and it snowed like a madman every day and night. Perfect actually.

Colorado, U.S. of A. Skied Niseko, Hachimantai, Hakkoda, and Nozawa for the month of January and can't wait to return as the Powder was amazing!

I had a great time last week at "Stay" it is in a basement on the main strip there, spoke some of my language with a bartendress whom studied in NY and San Francisco. Drank some Coors my home state beer and caught a buzz.

I skied there and last week , stayed at Sukayu Onsen and hired a guide through there. One "Rope Way" great powder!

American Telemarker needs info on train from Tokyo to Hokkaido and resort/snow and backcountry possibilities.
