  1. SJ, I did not receive a mail from you. Please check your outbox to make sure the email addressed to me got sent out properly... danz
  2. were those from monday?? cant wait to see the film from sat! Thanks again!!! any time you want a beer, give me a call! danz
  3. I guess this wont really help you but... I had a kiwi buddy in Ibaraki who had a nice little side business buying used cars in japan, and selling then in NZ...he made profit even after paying for shipping the cars over... but that is all I know... danz
  4. excellent!! What a cool feature to add to this site... I hope to get some good clips this weekend...the one I put up is kind of poor (and the camera-man had a lighting trigger...)... 2 thumbs up! danz
  5. nekobi.... it is way more economical to make digital prints than prints from film (especially in this country!)... 1) You dont have to print the entire role 2) pick and choose which pics you like on your computer, and print as many as you want (under 25yen/print) 3) online photo-albums are free and super easy to use (I use shutterfly.com)...I can share pics with friends and family instantly now...very cool I still use my slr on long trips, but the digicam is an amazing gadget...from mini-vids, skiing, nights out, to anything your artistic eye can see... danz
  6. hehe...so the school I teach at has a week long ski trip for 1st year high school students... was asking about it today in class...seeing how many ski and how many snowboard... get this...school rule is NO SNOWBOARDING...why? its dangerous sad news is I couldnt get on the trip.... 7. hey.... the whole time we were climbing we knew we were taking a risk. Saying that, we did do it as safe as you could without the gear...one at a time...avoiding obvious terrain traps....we even chatted with some of the avie courses going on at top...although I dont know much about avie, I am pretty confident in saying that that day was very stable... anyway, kagura rocks! danz
  8. Hey SJ dudes... how about letting us put short video clips on our members page??? Is that also a possibility?? my vids are also just from the digi-cam...not too impressive on the big-screen... danz
  9. I know I have been here long enough to know not to think about these things, but.... why oh why did naeba-kagura-tashiro-matumoto spend all that money on the dragondola?? I mean, naeba and the kagura resorts really have no business being connected...and all that money could have been used to expand kagura...it is sick how much terrain is available there...just sick! On sat. was riding up the lift with a Kagura lifty and asked him if the top lift was running...he said no...so I asked why (it was a bluebird day, no wind). He said its because there is too much snow I asked him :
  10. flying, dreaming, floating, sailing, falling, laughing, screaming, smiling, high-fiving... such an amazing feeling...makes me feel good all over just thinking about it danz
  11. amazingly, this season is turning to be damn amazing...a little too early to put the "epic" tag to it, but it has the potential... Last year was a definite EPIC year...but I have had countless powder days this season and hope to have many more... gandalf has been very happy danz
  12. fattys and jam bam are right across the street from eachother.... man, the contrast between those 2 places over new years was amazing.... fattys was the gaijin drink-chill-drink-drink type place, whereas jambar turned into an outofcontrol monkey-house... but I think toque should tell you about Jam bar... danz
  13. I just stopped in this place... these kind of "fiestas" make me sick...its everything you hate about riding in japan crammed into 1 room.... dims, I didnt check boards that much, but I doubt they would have what you are looking for...seems to cater to the 3-times a year fashion-over-function crowd... yuck... danz
  14. hey fattwins.... I should be in Hakuba that weekend too! maybe we can finally get some turns together! Ill pm you early next week.... danz
  15. hey crazyski... well, Toque doesnt land that...dont think he was expecting that drop either that was the best part... danz
  16. Toque... taking frames from a video is a piece of cake.... recognize any of these??? good stuff.... Fattwins...hokkaido is a special place...you would love it! I will be in hakuba the last weekend in jan...maybe somewhere in gifu this weekend with Toque and crazyski...where you at?? danz
  17. or a "japanese style bath".... anyway, not even touching this contest....you could not pay me enough to spend a day at joetsu... danz
  18. kagura seems to allow going into the bc w/out anyproblems...at least none that I know of.... as for inbounds....sure, there are some nice runs (especially if you duck some ropes...), but the layout is kind of annoying...if I were only skiing inside the resort, I might get bored/frustrated....thats all... dan
  19. kagura was good! Lots of powder... I did that hike, and it was probably the most painful, greulling, annoying hike I have ever done...there were about 3 tours/avie courses going on, each with at least 15members...not to mention tons of other people climbing..everyone had skins or snowshoes, which left me as the only one hiking in ski boots (my buddies all were on their elven snowboard boots...)...so it felt like I was walking in quicksand for 2hrs...sucked... but the results were great...amazing steep wide open face... the trees on the switchback at the very end were also good
  20. hey telechick... I just got back from a fun day in Kagura yesterday...here is my advice if you have skins for your teles....avalanche gear and awareness....and a buddy, than by all means get a kagura pass...there is simply an insane amount of terrain accessible from kagura...huge faces of varying steepness kind of taunt you as you ride the lifts there.... if you just plan on riding in-bounds, than not sure a pass would be worth it (well...depends on cost of course...) danz
  21. Actually heading to kagura this weekend with a good sj crew... so who can tell me where are the good stashes are??? danz
  22. lately... some Gov't Mule and more Bob Marley...I wish I could have seen him live!!! Found out that Derek Trucks will be in Tokyo in May!!! cant wait for that! danz
  23. all of this really falls in the realm of psycho-acoustics more than anything...and that is a very subjective science at the best... Just because SACD records at a higher bit-rate does not neccessarily mean that it has a significant increase in psycho-acoustic information, which in my opinion, is much more important. If kamos stats are right, 2.8MHz is waaaaay beyond the capabilities of the human ear. Sunrise has good points relating to how we "feel" the music (like warmth...). Unfortuntaley, the "psycho" part in psychoacoustics makes all this a wash... My guess is that for an "ave
