niseko has the best nighta I have seen anywhere in the world...quite magical on a powder-night...
otherwise, I tend to avoid them...

not impressed with ARAI....
I thought the terrain park wasnt all that...transitions on some of the kickers were really wierd, and the landings all were too flat...
the whole vibe at that mountain was really strange...didnt dig it at all...

good times though! great weekend...worked on tricks and finally nailed my 180! tried the 360 a few times but failed

well...
unless you want to be a specialist slalom skier, than dont go with a 160...
at 178cm tall you should be on a longer ski...best bet would be to demo a bunch...you will never be able to make nice fast wide open turns on 160cms, and I dont even want to think about powder in someting that short...
danz

hey tiger...
160?? man, those would be waaaay too short for you...I dont remember you being a short guy.
how tall are you??
I am on 180s now and never wish my skiis were shorter...sometimes whished they had a few extra cms on them...
I even think 170 is short for you man...but that is just me
toque, I wasnt suggesting soft skiis for non-aggressive riders, only that aggressive skiers might feel dissapointed by soft skiis on certain terrain (and vice-versa...a bump skier would hate having a stiff ski underfoot)...if you like bullet-proof snow at high speeds, than a soft ski
would not be what you want...

good stuff! thanks...
barok, do you have a name for the service you used??
jared...did you have to bring your stuff to the airport?? or could you arrange delivery from your place to airport...
indosm...is there a weight limit for that??
thanks!

Markie...
what kind of terrain would you say you ride the most?? what is your skiing style like (aggressive, lazy turns, etc...)...
soft skiis nice in pow bumps and park...
stiffer skiis for groomers, high speed stuff, technical terrain...
all-mtn. type skiis (midfats) usually have a good balance...

I dont buy music online...I am not willing to pay for music that is in a format that is not what the artist intended (mp3 are lossy....)
I would consider paying for online music if they could be bought in lossless format (.flac, .shn, etc)....
much of my digital audio comes from sites that promote show trading (from bands that permit such activities, and there are many)....I also have a huge cd collection that I have been slowly moving to my pc...
and lets not forget file-sharing...still kickin

I actually have found that I dont really enjoy riding w/music...
I feel it kind of distracts me from the natural rythm of what I am doing...not to mention it is kind of anti-social when w/friends
I prefer all my senses to be tuned into my turns, the mountains, company, and the pow!
having said that, I do own a Rio Karma (20gb dap) which I absolutely love!!

sad to say but I must start looking to the future and plan my great escape from japan...
phase 1 involves me shipping all my winter gear ( ) and other non-essentials back home...
so, any advice?? is it that much cheaper to ship over sea than by air?? What is the cheapest way?? time is not an issue...
anyone with some good experiences from a particular service??
thanks!

fire is an amazing thing...that building is toast!

AWESOME!
Sat: Hit kagura...made the first tram up again (7:30)...heaps of snow there...it was a bit heavier than my last trip, which made some flat bits a pain, but otherwise it was great...I was choking on my face shots all morning...
Sun: Tried Naeba...this mountain is really incredible, and I actually think it is waay better than kagura...the tree runs here are easily some of the longest and greatest I have done in Japan...no joke!! The pow was knee to waist deep and much lighter than the stuff at kagura...just incredible....
god, I love skiing in japan...!!!!!
