Hakuba is the place to go. Can actually party up there too, something that you CANNOT do at Shiga. Better for boarding in Hakuba too. gg

this is the one big downer on boarding here in japan.....very seriously under-nourished party wise

only stayed there the once I went to Nozawa and it was really good. the resort itself rocks

I was up there, New Order and that baldy-guy rocked. Oasis were a bit of a dissapointment (expecting too much), Tool magnificent. Oh yeah, and Neil Young was......OLD!

Definitely a good idea to avoid the crowds - no one said do that. But crowds are really down compared to even 3 or 4 years ago, man. People who came here then would not recognise many of the resorts in Nagano and Niigata any more.....lack of skiers and boarding-dudes is a serious problem for them. (All the better for us still wanting to get out there!)

Hakuba Cortina. Those guys are so mellow.
