  1. Panhead_pete Actually cash is still king in Japan. You had better hold some cash all the time to buy things around especially for small amount of money. You can use your credit card (even if it's a forein issued one ) to draw some yen cash at post offices with ATM machines. Maybe some small post offices might not have any ATM machines though. But I guess as far as you get somewhere by public transportation, you'll get to a station or bus stop, so I guess you'll have some chance to find a post office around you. As to T/C, take some yen T/C. I don't think Auzzie dollars T/C are

  3. Usually it's very convenient especially when you buy something through internet. You don't go out to buy them, don't need to go to a bank to transfer the bill. But sometimes the other (seller, maker etc )forget to cancel our order even when we tell them not to renew a contract etc. Once I had an annual contract with a hosting server in Texas. But their downtime was scary much more than I supposed. So I didn't renew the contract last year and told them it 1 month in advance as the contract sheet said but they forgot it and invoiced the bill to my credit card. I e-mailed them to explai
  4. Hum...so, Japan is one of rare places where anyone can buy some fireworks anytime to enjoy?
  5. Another long season plan besides kronik! JM, try to get a working holiday visa if there's still some chances as some before me have already mentioned. Good luck
  6. Usually sunglasses, but if it's windy, sometimes google.
  7. 3 months! I'm sure everyone else in this forum is now jealous! Also sure, in both Niseko and Hakuba, few people speak Wallon or Flemish >I've heard Niseko gets the best powder, but Hakuba has steeper slopes and a better park? I think this above is what many people have mentioned about in this forum, too though I have never been to Niseko. Have fun
  8. 30-35%??? That is crazy, Indo. I think it might be interest for cashing. I checked the interests for revo at my cards, they all say around 12-13%. Still not small.
  9. Yesterday I heard through the radio that fireworks are allowed only once a year in Newzealand on Nov.5th. But they didn't say the reason why. I am now curious why. Any bad accidents in the past?
  10. Hum... too many trends to follow! So many pockets at your jackets? Never counted how many but maybe mine also have that numbers.
  11. Not sure it helps or not though. I got what I ordered from Canada by airmail today. They invoice roughly 45 Canadian dollars (approximately 4600 yen ) for my 1.5kgs box. It was through post office, they said. I think OCS (Oversea Courier Service)costs a lot more.

  13. merryJim If I remember right, a little bit more than 10 times. At the beginning, the dentist tried to repair the tooth but he gave up and decided to pull it out and he did. He said I had to wait for my gums grown up to put an artificial tooth there. He also says I am not a teenager any more, so probably it doesn't grow quick. I think now I go to the dentist once or twice a month for that. Yes, caramels, chocolate eclair play a trick on teeth!! Be careful if you had a fat caramel, maybe it would take your dentures.
  14. XilR8 A revolving payment option is a way for card holders to pay the amount devided into some months until the amount is all paid out. So when you buy something by your credit card by choosing that option, each month they invoice some to your credit card. Maybe I can say it's kinda loan? You are to pay some interests which is not small That's one of ways for them to earn. If you choose the revolving option in some different time while you still have the previous balance, the new amount for the revolving option is added to the balance. They set some standard for you how muc
  15. #1: Bulky guys who are powerless #2: Vacum cleaners that are noisy but don't work good. #3: Glasses that don't help me to watch anything better. #4: Olders who say this and that but don't give any advices to youngers.
  16. But I still need to go to the dentist, every time I hear the drill working, scary I always pray it stop soon. The dentist pulled one of my teeth out and now making an artificial one to fill the room there. Hope it'll completely finish soon.
  17. In my case, it really depends on what's going on then. When it's quiet time, I can finish whenever I want but when it's busy, I'm not sure what time I can finish my work. Sometimes guests tease me over the phone saying "Gamera, we got lost and drunk, how can we go back?" Usually they can't find any landmarks nearby coz it's in the dark at night and even if they found some, they don't read Kanji Or I can't hear what they say because they are drunk, they speak harder English to me.
  18. What is "X socks" ? Something like 5 fingers socks? When I go to ski, I usually wear some pairs of socks plus hold a warmer (Kairo) in each foot. Usually thin one like 5 fingers socks then wool fat socks. A warmer inbetween them. This is perfect for me. Bad thing is sometimes it feels too hot
  19. Whoah...that's inviting, Soubriquet! But I know I have to behave, if I take what I want, probably I will get a lot more weight which is very hard to lose later on. I've been reading some cooking books to find some yummy but fewer calorie foods. A bit hard to find some though.
  20. Getting dull to the trend year by year maybe coz of my old-fartness ( dunno if there's such a word in English or not ). So anyone can gimme some idea?
  21. Haven't slept for long in a car. I think the last time I did that is ..... maybe 1/4 century ago! My back hurt when I woke up though it was in a summer night at Utsukushigahara.
  22. Nice pic, soubriquet! Hum... same here, still larch tree leaves keep falling. They say it'll be snowy next sunday ( Dec.3rd ) here. Stay tuned!
  23. No rules at all? OMG Thanks Bushpig. Sounds like a place hooligans really love. Maybe for major places e.g. capitals in each and every country, people know the correct words for it but if it's a small place like mine Hakuba, Hakubaite Hakubaian Hakuber or maybe just "Hakuba people" ? And if different people use different words, no confusion?
