  1. ah ok the laughing guy. lets see if we can bring back one or two of the ones that got lost ---- when the new stuff goes up
  2. As I politely requested in my post last night - enough of this. Any more posts in this thread that continue that line of talk will be deleted instantly. It will also start annoying me a lot as it is taking up my time - I do not have that time or the inclination to attend to this kind of thing. I also won't be replying to PMs or complaining emails about this either as it just proves futile. Please (everyone) take any personal issues you have with other members like that off these forums. Thanks.
  3. Damn perhaps I shouldn't have sent him all of our website files as well as all of the information resources we have. Oh well we all make mistakes. Time for some coffee.
  4. Not actually junk (?) but just got one of these: "I want detailed maps, city informations, hotels, restaurants and ski areas. If possible, I also would like all of the timetables of buses and trains to Nagano, Norikura, Takayama and Furano. Send by tomorrow." Don't want much from us do they?!! No please or thank you either.
  5. Here we are busy into the night preparing things for our Forums update, and it seems that things have heated up on here considerably since I last looked. Look, enough of this please, it is getting way out of hand and it is only going in one direction and I have taken the last few inflammatory comments down. (Please note that my following comments are not referring to any one person or people) Let me say this. However much any individual takes part and contributes to SnowJapan - and as much as it is encouraged and we are of course happy to see people contribute - it does not af
  6. Don't worry, that very important thread was not deleted, it is here http://www.snowjapanforums.com/ubbthreads.php/ubb/showflat/Number/270744#Post270744
  7. No it isn't. We are just preparing a few things. Just hold on a moment, take a deep breath, stop the mass panic and read this http://www.snowjapanforums.com/ubbthreads.php/ubb/showflat/Number/270494/an/1#Post270494
  8. I am saving this thread from the indignity of disappearing to the third page.
  9. No, most of them are nothing to do with winter sports. Carpets, pharmecuticals, watches... that kind of thing.
  10. Here's a good one just got. It started off.... Quote: NOTE: We are not spammers and are against spamming of any kind. We are sending this mail with sole intention of link exchange for mutual benefit. If you are not intersted in Link Exchange then you can reply simply "NO", We will never contact you again. then.... Quote: Dear webmaster, We recently came across your site through Google search and your active links page indicates that you are interested in link exchange. Right! Quote: You have an excellent site and we would be delight
  11. JA, you didn't see their site. It was one of these 'list of links with no content' sites. We often get mails from people asking for link exchanges - mostly from things like this, but sometimes from some guy who has started a one-page website that gets 4 hits a day (him, his mum, his gran and her dog) and feels that a link exchange would be mutually beneficial for him and for SnowJapan. Sometimes you just have to laugh at the preposterousness (and cheek) of it all. You might have noticed the lack of a Links page on our site. We're not scrambling around for any old meaningles
  12. No, I think we are just going to have to continue doing things as a disservice to our users. Sorry.
  13. We get a mountain of junk mail every day sent to our main email addresses - several thousand a day. Of course we get lots of the usual junk, but some of them are more memorable than others. Here's one we just got that made me laugh: Quote: LINK EXCHANGE REQUEST We found your website http://www.snowjapan.com and would like to exchange links with you as our sites have similar content and it would be mutually beneficial. Our site is undoubtedly one of the leading for parathyroid surgeons. Find up-to-date, straight-forward discussions of parathyroid disease and minimally i
  14. Thank you Mantas. Will try to keep the banging on to a minimum. But, you know, I hope this comes across but we really want this Forum to be a friendly place. A few things happened the other day and I suppose we were just feeling the need to respond to that. (Because those things were deleted, you only saw the response...) Sometimes perhaps things build up and we feel the need to get the message out. Unfortunately, when something like that does happen, an exaggerated or totally incorrect version is sometimes told to other members and we end up being the bad guys. After all,
  15. We already use unique IPs as one of the ways of tracking and rooting out voting-spammers!
  16. We actually have a tracking system which is able to make adjustments, taking into account people doing multiple votes (ie. they get deleted). It is never going to be 'perfect' and it would be practically impossible to stop people who really were out to make a big impact on the numbers just by trying to make it one person/one vote. If we changed it to be only-members / once-only, two things would more than likely happen: 1) people who really wanted to go in and submit multiple votes would just create different accounts and 2) there would probably be many fewer votes.
  17. Hi Claire and welcome to the forums. You can find lots of information about those places on these forums, using the search http://www.snowjapanforums.com/ubbthreads.php/ubb/search You can also look through the Resort Reviews section for more opinions http://www.snowjapan.com/e/voice/review.php Good luck
