Hi Tubby et al Yes I am looking for a nice big 4-6 berth camping car.... after all i like my comforts. 4wd would be a plus, but snow tyres, and a gas hob and heater is all we really need. Toilet would be handy too though! Have now found a quote for a 6 bed for 830,000 so its coming down slowly I travelled around aus for 3 months in a toyota hi-ace poptop. The poptop was a god send for me as not being able to stand up for 3 months would be a killer. Hence another reason why im happy to pay for a larger camper now. -

Hello all I wanted to re-start this thread as myself and friend are looking at finding a camping car for this winter once again. Unfortunately last year didn't happen in the end, but we have our flights to Japan for this year now, so no turning back I was hoping somebody might be able to help me locate a camping car rental company. I'm having zero luck so far finding anything suitable less than 1 million yen for 3 months. Anybody seen a camping car rental company about, that you can pass on their details to me please? Cheers -

Hello all Sorry if I'm posting this in the wrong area. I'm having a tough time finding anything on the Internet so thought I'd ask here. Does anybody know any ski shops that can supply and fit markr duke bindings? Preferably in and around Nagano/Hakuba. But, if I have to send my skis to niseko to get some so be it! Thanks in advance

Does anybody know if largish vehicles can get on the ferry to Hokkaido? Specifically a largish vehicle like the ones I posted photos of above. Also any ideas how much the ferry might cost? Cheers -

With the danger of dragging this tread into the gutter, here are some photos of the campervan we'll be renting -

Normally wherever I travel, I just buy a local Sim stick it in my phone, and off I go. However, some countries use different frequencies or mobile technologies. for instance in the US there are two versions of the iphone. a GSM and a CDMA version. so technically my GSM iphone should work on any GSM network around the world, but not on a CDMA network. so i suppose my question really should have been are the mobile networks in japan GSM or CDMA? (forgive me if I have completely got it wrong, but that is my understanding of how it all works ) -

Andrew from Japan RV rental kindly found the quote for me. I did specifically ask about snow tyres which in response he said- "Snow tires are fitted to the vehicle during winter months." But after Chriselle's comments I might invest/rent a pair of snow chains as well when we arrive to be safe. A few more details about the quote..... "50% discount is applied for the rental over a month. 570,675 JPY (Original price 1,141,350 JPY) From Oikos Rental For 8 people to ride, 6 people to sleep ( Might be a bit tight with six people sleeping together though.)" Hi Sorry if this is a silly question, but all of my google searches only brought up answers from back around 2008! Will my european bought iphone 4s work in Japan? I cannot imagine why not, but I thought i'd better ask before i arrive. If all is ok, are there any good deals for pay as you go mini sim's that inc. data? Cheers

Thanks for your reply's. I actually already have a quote for a campervan. So for 52 days rental of a 6 berth camper it works out at 10,974 yen a day. That will be shared between 2 of us for the majority of the time, and should be just about enough room for us with all our skiing gear. Is that a lot of money for Japan? It doesn't seem to be for me when I convert it to pounds.
