  1. Sure! Let's play snowboard at about on Saturday! Its Oze! Meet in carpark? -We'll just be following SATNav so have no idea....
  2. Really seriously considering Oze after the info you gave us! Other than that, Shiga possibly....
  3. Trying to move these conversations over to my new amazing thread http://www.snowjapanforums.com/index.php/topic/23835-what-are-you-doing-this-weekend-want-to-hang-out/page__pid__516519#entry516519 I would guess Iwakura got enough snow to fix what happened last weekend. It might in fact be really good. If I had to guess I would say 30 - 40 cm of fresh snow but that is just a guess based on the Minakami Now report. I have to admit if I had Tuesday off I would consider going then. It looks like a good bit more snow is going to fall between now and then. Wish I could get Tuesday off.......
  4. All depends on the conditions.... What do you think Gunma Boarder? Did Iwakura get a reasonable amount of snow this week? Also, earlier this week, people were complaining in Hakuba of 'dust-on-crust'.... Would you know if a hard ice-crust has formed at Iwakura during the mild (rain) period? Last weekend was good though, yeah?
  5. After seeing those photos and knowing I have a free ticket to this place, this tune sprang to mind... Just fingers crossed for some better weather!
  6. What ever my car will let me do before the engine-limiter kicks in! Hahaha! The old Legacy ~ 180 Yellow plate Pleo ~ 140
  7. Hahahaha! Thanks! I used boot-polish to outline the facial features, and the snowman himself was well over 2m tall so pretty scary! Anyway, I'm definitely not the chap to ask about jaunts from Tokyo -I've only ever lived in Nagano Prefecture, and the resorts here would be at least 3.5hrs from Tokyo... Gunma is probably your best bet, plus Yuzawa in Niigata. Good luck!
  8. Hmmm... We were planning on going Sunday. If the highway is open, we'll definitely go as conditions will be perfect! If not, I'll have to have a re-think... I live near R144, so I could just drive that.... I love driving on snow so that's not a problem, it's just a time issue -can't be doing with driving any more than 2.5hrs... I'll keep my eyes peeled to the IC info website, and keep those fingers crossed! Cheers for the heads up anyway!
  9. Runs 15 & 16 are over the back, so only saw them on Google Earth... I've been drooling at this pic... I wasn't planning on taking my snowshoes... If the terrain isn't steep enough, I'll usually just move on to somewhere that is... Unless there's a decent BC line of course?!
  10. Cool! Hopefully with the extra snow this weekend, that ice will get buried... Thanks for the info btw! Pretty keen to get in and check out White World as the aerial photos on google show some potentially nice tree runs!
  11. Uh-oh! We shall have to be ninja-like if we stand out that bad! Full face balaclavas and mirrored lenses..... Hahahaha! Great to hear they open even when it's pounding down! Good to know! You didn't experience any ice from the last mild/rain period we had a week or so ago did you? Cortina on SUN had massive exposed ice patches where the wind had scoured the fresh snow off!? T'was not a pretty sight...
  12. Won a ticket to White World (thank you SJ!) and am thinking to go this weekend with NECK as the forecast is for more snow there than Hakuba!? My question is.... Do they open the resort on big snow days? Do lifts eventually open if they have to spend time clearing, or is the day a write off? Did they open this last weekend with the big snow? I live 2hrs away, so it would suck fairly hard if we got there and it was a no go.... Thanks for any info!
  13. I can only speak for Cortina, Nozawa, Suginohara, Niseko & Tangram (resort joined to Madarao) -If you know the resorts, like really know them, the surrounding terrain and how far you can venture out and still get back, you can find untouched nuggets all day... Except for maybe Cortina these days on a pow weekend!
  14. What the %$#&?! I was already thinking which fiendishily impossible photo to post... Balls. Niseko
  15. Hahahaha! Indeed! Nice user name btw! Hey, have they changed the names of the pistes this year? This line was called Uma-no-se or something before wasn't it?
  16. Nope! Not in the Myoko area.... If you haven't already TRIP REPORT PLEASE!!!! I've been thinking about going up there for years! If you already have written one, link please! Ha! Oh my word, this was back in 2007~2009 perhaps... I'll have to see if I remember the trip... Scenery as you can see was superb, but I remember wishing I was on my skis for the 'out' as it was long and flat! Oooooo... and I remember needing to 2 cars as the valley we came down, never backed round to the start point...
  17. Yes. That took all of 9 minutes You get to post the next photo Bushiman! Hahaha! I knew that was the backside of Azumaya behind it, and, I'd seen it when I was up here above Kusatsu doing a BC line off the road... (Pallcall is top left) Here's my pic... (Neck can't answer as he was there that day!)
  18. **UPDATE** Bought a ROAM1 for cheap on Amazon. Immediately updated the ROAM1 Firmware to allow for USB3.0 detection. Then installed the ROAM2 Firmware -works awesome! Picture is crisp, clear, vivid, and shot at 60fps! You also get way more camera settings to tweek on Storyteller regarding Picture/Sound/Lighting etc. Highly recommend!
