  1. I have no idea, but trying to figure it out has made me look at some skijos I probably would never have otherwise
  2. I will be at Kawaba, Kagura/Naeba, Tenjin and Okutone throughout the season. I also would like to get to Hakuba, Myoko, Shiga Kogen, Palcall and Kusatsu during the year but I don't know when yet. NIce topic by the way.
  3. 30 would be great for me. might try to get some nighta in at Okutone / Norn to boost my number up a bit
  4. Cool. I will respect Johnny's wishes and not make a rival thread out of respect for his awesome thread. I need a pic to guess on though!
  5. I don't want to even give a yes or no for mine since I broke the rules. Kind of thinking about the rival thread thing but more of a free for all with maybe number on the pics so people know what they are guessing on. Might be kind of a mess though....... Any thoughts?
  6. Damn should have read the first post more carefully. Sorry about that
  7. Nagano is amazing, but Myoko being just barley in Niigata made my decision. I have never been to Hokkaido so there is also that.....
  8. I always hit the tree runs at Kawaba. I also have enjoyed Tsumagoi Palcall beautiful evergreens at high elevation. Kagura was also pretty good.
  9. If money and time is an issue you can get to the resorts in Gunma without the Shinkansen in 3 hours or so. I tend to go to Kawaba alot because it takes me half an hour to get there and the tree runs are a lot of fun. Kagura is much bigger though......
  10. Where do you live, Tubby? You always seem to be talking about Kagura and Yuzawa. I'm over the mountains and Gunma and have been wanting to spend more time on the Niigata side, especially Kagura, but most of the people I know over here are locked into season passes so I usually ride alone . If you are going up and don't mind me riding with you let me know.
  11. I love this topic! I'm always snowboarding alone in trees, which is probably not the smartest idea, so I would love to board with other SJ members. I definitly want to board this weekend (21st and 22nd), either in Gunma or head into Niigata (Kagura, Yuzawa Onsen, etc) so tell me if your going to be in the area!
  12. I think you would need some sort of petition with lots and lots of signatures from Japanese nationals and also an advocate who is Japanese. Good luck!
  13. Nice video! I've been wanting to get over to Myoko for a few years now. How was Suginohara? I just won a ticket there, so I will be going there and maybe Palcall one of these weekends.
  14. I've been there, but in the summer when it was hot and crowded. It was still amazing, but your pics look better
  15. I snowboard in the trees, so not wearing a helmet would be stupid (Though I didn't all of last year....). If you stick to the runs on a non icy day and don't hit jumps, you probably don't "need" a helmet
  16. My boots are falling apart!! also just put a deep gash in my board. Will probably buy a used board, but I've heard used boots can hurt your feet. Any thoughts?
  17. Wow. Amazing photo's I need to check this place out with some snowshoes and a camera.
  18. The view from Kawaba's double lift is as good as Tenjinaira, but I think the resort is much more fun. On a clear day you can see Fuji, the north alps, the south alps, Shirane and many other amazing mountains from just off the lift. Not a bad spot to strap in (if you are boarding) or just take a break. I also love to go places for the scenery. I'm planning on climbing Tanigawa and Hotaka this year from Tenjindaira and Kawaba. I will have to check out Zao Onsen
  19. Last year I got myself locked into a season pass and ended up only going to Kawaba and Norn all year. I won't make that mistake again. It's not that I don't like Kawaba, I just love variety. Well, I will start with the resort I know the best, Kawaba. I do love getting a little off trail and Kawaba some beautiful tree runs. I definitly don't recomend going in the trees without a helmet and a high skill level, but if you meet those prereqs Kawaba has a lot to offer. Do be careful though a couple of the valleys have areas that are not safe (i.e big holes in the snow). I also love natura
