  1. Same with alot of Olympic facilities after the Games finish. But yeah, a whole ski hill built and then left to nature is crazy. Great photos of some interesting trips recently MikePow! I've hiked alot around those areas in the summer/autumn, I really should make the effort to get out with my skis in the spring to make the most of the snow and sunny weather!
  2. You planning to do any 'marathons' over the summer Tubby? We're doing the Lake Toya 10km in May and then maybe the Otaru half in June. Beaut weather for running at the mo. Heading out for a 10 miler this afternoon.
  3. 57 so far. Will hopefully get to about 65 before putting the skis away for the summer. Usually it's more but I broke my hand early season so was out of action for a few weeks.
  4. Yeah, we initially went straight up to the top, but the wind was pretty brutal, especially wearing sunglasses and jeans etc! So after a breakfast beer in the lodge we decided Olympia would be a warmer option! Shame we missed you! Heading up again today, looks like it should be good!
  5. Come to Teine on Friday, Sapporo! Find some retro skiwear in a second hand store and dress like a tourist first timer. Ski/board and have a couple of beers and a laugh!
  6. It wasn't that bad at Teine today! Off piste it was quite crusty and windblown, but the pistes were perfect. I had a great few hours lapping the park and a few tree lines. I got a goggle tan and an ice cream toothache from smiling so much! Coming up for Gaper Day on Friday Tubby?
  7. Where you going on Thursday Tubby? I'm probably going to head to Rusutsu. It'll be day 50 for me!
  8. Yeah we went to Racey. Some people might have been a little hungover this morning, so it was a late start. It was really deep though, and a good day, Racey just doesn't have the steepness or more exciting lines that Teine has. Looking forward to tomorrow!
  9. Cool! I'll keep my eyes open! What skis do you ride? I'm red jacket, black pants, white helmet and Francis Bacons.
  10. I'll be there tomorrow too. I know Mitch, is he going? If I see him I'll say hi! I think maybe we met once Sand, at Wild Bills when a few SJ folks were meeting up 3-4 seasons ago?
  11. Hows the wind up there today Tubby? Seems like everything is open. We're debating over Teine tomorrow or Racey. Then Rusutsu Sunday.
  12. Yeah, Rusutsu is generally better at coping with the winds. Teine is high and exposed to the winds that whip in off the sea, whereas Rus is less exposed (maybe blocked by Yotei a bit?) and the lifts mostly run up the valleys. Saying that, the wind looks like it's going to be stronger tomorrow and Saturday than today, so I dunno. It sucks to travel all that way only for everything to be closed! I always fall back on Mt Racey when it's windy as it's a bit more sheltered. Not easy to get to without a car though.
  13. Hike it! Did that last year when I was fed up with a morning on wind hold. Had a dream run down bowl 1, totally untracked and deep!
  14. The top of Teine can be a real pain with the wind. Last season we lost alot of days when it was closed. This coming weekend isn't looking too great for wind . (At least on the K-Pass we have the option of good ol' reliable Racey!)
  15. About to jump in the car. Now I'm confused where are we going again?! Haha see you there Tubby!
  16. Actually, scratch that. Teine looks like it's going to be epic, so we're going there tomorrow!
  17. Rusutsu's always a good laugh though. We're gonna go to Teine Sunday hopefully it'll keep snowing through tomorrow there! Hopefully see you chaps tomorrow!
  18. Looks like a few of us will be there on Saturday! I'll keep my eyes open for you Tubby and Seemore. I'm red jacket, black pants, twin tip skis and a white helmet with a load of stickers. Probably with a group of 5 or 6.
