  1. The only trick will be finding someone we haven't already given weapons and training to.
  2. Ha ha. Gingerly, tentatively, building up courage on the kicker at Snova the other day, I was acutely aware of my age. All these young kids on snowboards doing spins off it, and here I was at my age, just straight jumping it on skis. Which was great fun, actually. But seeing all these kids going at it, I felt like, heck, I'm not going to let them put me out to pasture! Keep at it! I'm sure the kids thought, "What the heck is this old geezer doing here? We'll show how it's done!" So good mutual motivation. At least so I imagined. (More likely, they just thought, why is this oyaji wast
  3. Inawashiro area: bunch of small-to-mid-sized places in one area. Zao: one resort, but plenty big enough for 2-3 days. Plus snow monsters!
  4. Ended up hitting Snova today, last-minute decision. Spent most of the time getting comfortable on the kicker, with a sprinkling of guratori on the side. Feeling wiped out now. Good exercise!
  5. I'm always happy to extoll the virtues of Fukushima options (or even Zao, for that matter), but Sez asked about Yuzawa. Which is also good -- and closer to Mt. Granview, of course.
  6. Condolences, gg. I'm sure she doesn't know what she's missing.
  7. Condolences, Tubb. I see Dundee had a higher proportion of Yes votes than anywhere else.
  8. Heh heh, she said 'unco'... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m1agaZinJHg
  9. Time for the annual, pre-season climate change dust-up, I see. Winter can't be far now.
  10. I chewed the body meat. The heart was way too small to chew, being only about the size of one of those little Frisk breath mints. (Picture a throbbing, beating breath mint.) No, tasted like...snake. Actually, not really much flavor. Though texture was maybe somewhere between chicken and shrimp.
  11. Those MacEarth guys must be either geniuses or masochists, running around buying all the troubled ski areas they can find. I guess time will tell which one it is.
  12. Actually, it was at a barbecue party. Some workers had caught a mamushi earlier, which they decided to toss on the grill. They killed and sliced it up quickly, and offered me the still-beating heart to eat, probably because I was standing nearby and looked gullible. Still, not one to pass up such an opportunity, I accepted. Could feel it still beating on my tongue and down my throat. The rest of the snake was grilled up and everyone got a few bites. Not bad, actually.
  13. Yes do tell, what you mean. Alcohol may have been involved.
  14. Never been bitten by one, though have bitten one.
  15. There are also mamushi, which are poisonous, though not usually fatal.
  16. I'm hoping to score a More Epic-er Pass. (Granview, Hanaoka, Runcorn and Llandudno) Though I realize there will be hot competition for those.
  17. Good eye. The original image from which that was cropped was a bit tilted. Katsurazawa Kokusetsu?
