  1. It's gotta be better than here. I'll take my chances.
  2. Taking the job in Hokkaido. It's well far enough away.
  3. they have 6 for 15000 people! It's to help allay the fears apparently...

With the new evacuation orders I heard they are gonna check the levels house by house cause it differs so much. There are some hot spot apparently. At my town they have started lending out geiger counters. Wish i could have had a play with one..
  5. Philly just traded away Richards and Carter. Captain and assistant gone! Signed Bryzgalov to 9 years. That's one hell of a shakeup!
  6. Thanks Chriselle. I'm in a town near Shirakawa (the south and about in the middle of Fukushima) 72kms away. Radiation levels not too bad here, 0.32 i think today. Not as bad as major areas like Koriyama or Fukushima. But one thing to remember is that 0.32 is at the car park of the city hall at a height of 1 metre. You go to a park or somewhere with dirt/grass and the level will be about 0.5-0.6. Also, the closer you go to the ground the higher the level gets. An area where water runs to would be even higher. All the kind of places kids love to play in...
  7. well i'm getting out... mostly because I have a 2 year old and my wife is pregnant. Even if there is no effect from the radiation it's having to live with the thought of it everytime you go outside. The job i just happened to find is in Hokkaido too. Not sure whether to be sad and angry or happy and excited....
  8. Great win by Boston. Someone always stood up for them when needed. Did it like the Pens 2 years ago and won game 7 on the road after both teams held serve. What a great series it was.
  9. Boston had better save some goals for game 7. Mr.Loungo, ain't karma a bitch.
  10. chances of a game 7?? pretty good i would say. It was nice to be able to watch a full game at home. Thanks for those links earlier in the thread.
  11. another convincing win to Boston. This is turning into a great series. Nice slash by Thomas at the end too! Will be interesting to see if the Canucks start Luongo in the next game. As a neutral fan it's hard to not go for Boston.
  12. more means more to lose! I have enough of a hard time finding one sometimes. Wife loves to take it into other rooms for some reason. My Sony Au phone from 7 years ago had a built in tv remote. You'd select the brand of tv in the settings and could use it on pretty much any tv. It was such a great feature. Was fun to mess around with friend's tvs when they thought I was writing mails.
  13. it just seems easier to be able to use one remote for the tv and blue ray. any other benefits i wonder??
  14. Did anyone see Thomas' hit? It was more or a push but he smashed H.Sedin. Half a second later and Sedin would have had control of the puck and it would have been in the goal. Was a risky hit but he timed it perfect!
  15. Thinking about getting the Regza Z1S 37inch. Going for a bit of balance between performance and size. Recording on an external USB hard-drive sounds like a cool feature too. Want to get a blue-ray recorder with it too but the Toshiba ones don't have the best reputation. Wondering if it's viable to use a different brand recorder?
  16. just read this about the key facts and figures from game 3 on nhl.com 1 -- Hits credited to Thomas, the first by a goaltender since San Jose's Evgeni Nabokov in 2007. Manny Legace in 2006 is the only other goaltender in the last five years to be credited with a hit. awesome!
  17. Thought Burrows wouldn't even be playing this match. Chara seems like a bit of a liability out there sometimes..
  18. wow. that was huge!! 11 seconds into overtime.
  19. thanks again. Stefan was the no.1 draft pick in 1999. Biggest bust ever would probably be a better title. Didn't play in the NHL the season after that miss.
  20. this one comes to mind... dDbEX666G3Y umm, can someone help me please?
  21. Crazy day in Japanese politics. Who knows why they are bickering just a couple of months after the earthquake! Unbelievable really. So it looks like Kan will quit sometime this month. He made a deal to keep the party together. Ozawa was all about the no confidence motion but when Kan promised to quit, Ozawa realized the no confidence vote wouldn't be passesd and he didn't turn up for the vote! But a couple of his so called group turned up and voted for it! Guess they will leave the party now. I think one guy was a guy who had been on Ainori a few years back!
  22. Yay, a hockey thread! Nice goal by vancouver to take the first game. They should be favorites by a long way but Boston might cause a few surprises. I expect them to be strong at home. Wish some SJ people could have joined in for a fantasy hockey league this year. I ended up winning my public yahoo league. Not bad for an Aussie living in Japan who has never seen a full NHL game before and learned about hockey through NHL 94 on the Genesis!
  23. I picked up a couple of season passes a few years back. One was 26000 yen at a Hatoriko, a smallish place, and the other was 50000 at Mt. Jeans. The one with Mt. Jeans also gave you 1000 yen day tickets at Grandeco and a few other resorts and free onsen on the way home.
