  1. I believe it would be just as illegal as ripping a rented dvd. just a much more simple process!
  2. this kind of info can get a bit hot... so i'll keep it nice and simple. (remember that downloading stuff is illegal, don't do it etc etc) 1) torrent program (e.g. uTorrent) 2) run a google search of what you want plus the magic word. 3) download the magic little file and execute it. check to see what comes with it (e.g. stay away from anything .zip .rar if possible etc). bob's your uncle.
  3. torrents are still your friend. seriously. have you tried something like this? http://www.labnol.org/software/install-apps-from-itunes-store/13523/ say it's for apps (only works for free ones apparently)
  4. what file types can the iPad play? avi's and such??
  5. do you give a sheep the same dose of medicine as a horse?
  6. I know where you're coming from there TB but.... surely, it can't be as simple as that. There's peoples heath at stake. it's gotta be to sell medicines. are you gonna keep going back to a doctor who told you to suck it up? or to one that looks after you well with all those wizz bang medicines? Japanese people visit the doctor the most out of any country in the world. There must be a lot needless visits that drive up our health insurance payments.
  7. think the pens might be a little frustrated... also yahoo fantasy hockey makes me keep in touch with everything going on in the league.
  8. if the sharks can get past the blues they should have the confidence to take down any team. 0-4 in the regular season and shut out a couple of times. hope we see some more upsets.
  9. I think you'll also find a lot of the place names in Hokkaido are derived from the Ainu language, not just the ones in katakana. For example, Sapporo, Kutchan, Obihiro, Shimukappu, Kushiro etc etc. They are normally given kanji to match the Ainu language sound. (当て字). The name of the town Niseko comes from the Nisekoannupuri Mountain. And here's a fun little fact, the area was originally called 'Kaributo' but this name had phallic connotations so they changed it to Niseko!
  10. Have seen them doing this at some resorts before too. Could it be to do with helping stop the corrosion of the pylons? The wet snow pack up against the pylons for a few months could do a little bit of damage over time.
  11. must have had around 30~40 cms of the lightest snow here in Tokachi today and tonight. Crazy stuff.
  12. This page seems pretty good to me! http://www.seppyo.org/tmp/hokkaido/nomen/nomen-a.html -granular snow
  13. Yeah, sometimes you I feel like I should be supporting local businesses here more but when they charge 30-40% more than what I would pay online it makes it hard to choose them. Haggling in Japan is a lot of fun. Have myself taken in prices from online and been told outright to buy it online cause they can't get anywhere near those prices! Stores like Yamada Denki, Bic Camera etc must get sick of people bringing in kakaku.com printouts.
  14. definitely agree. Always go try your gear on first at a retailer before buying online. Sometimes though you can't find what you are looking for on the shops and just have to take the risk. Returns are usually no prob though.
  15. no prob! try this one: http://search.rakuten.co.jp/search/mall?sitem=alpine+%E3%82%B9%E3%82%AD%E3%83%BC%E3%80%80%E3%83%96%E3%83%BC%E3%83%84&g=0&myButton.x=0&myButton.y=0&myButton=%E6%A4%9C%E7%B4%A2&v=2&s=1&c=3761&p=1&min=&max=&sf=0&st=A&nitem=

  17. Haven't noticed any mention of this on here. Sound like we have another sad case like the one from a couple of years ago. from http://news.ninemsn.com.au/national/8418553/nsw-man-found-dead-at-japanese-ski-resort An Australian man has died at a ski resort town in Japan. The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFAT) said on Monday the 45-year-old man from NSW died in Niseko, one of Japan's top resorts. A spokesperson for DFAT said consular assistance is being provided to friends he was with in Japan and family in Australia. No details surrounding his death have been released. It w
  18. quiet it should be but don't go thinking it's might be something like Niseko! It's a fairly standard resort in Japan, a nice long gondola but not a lot of runs and no off piste action. Hard to recommend for anyone above intermediate level.
  19. whatever you do don't buy them from the shop. get them online, take the tyres to a tyre shop and get them to put them on. you'll save almost half the cost.
  20. is 80 enough?? looks like 4 is the most you can buy at the moment- http://kakaku.com/search_results/usb%8F%5B%93d%8A%ED+4%83%7C%81%5B%83g/?sort=popular&nameonly=off&category=0002&l=l&lid=ksearch_searchbutton&act=Input&n=20
  21. Leaving a bag at Shin-chitose costs from 300 ~ 800 yen per bag for the day. Doesn't mention overnight rates. http://www.new-chitose-airport.jp/en/service/?no=13
