  1. Download a craft beer app like 'Untappd', 'Taphunter', or 'Find Craft Beer' and set them loose in Shibuya, Harajuku, etc. They can pub crawl their way around good Japanese craft beer.
  2. I noticed this trend well before Abe and his nomics came around. I'm just saying that this is a type of inflation that hasn't been accounted for.
  3. This is an interesting phenomena going on in Japan. It's a kind of hidden inflation that nobody seems to measure. It's not always about rising prices when sizes and qualities are going down.
  4. Yeah, the agenda is often right in your face, isn't it? There was serious BS going on in one of those programs last night when they were comparing raising a child in Japan and America. They were saying it costs $2000/month for child care in America (at a nursery school that has 1 teacher for every 3 kids and organic lunches) and in Japan it only costs $350 (no mention of conditions at the school though). Also, in Japan apparently women get 58 weeks of maternity leave while in the US they only get 12 weeks. REALLY??!!! Most women get nothing, or something much much less and they are almost
  5. But if you underpromise how are you going to be able to trick people into buying your service or product?
  6. You sure you're not in Yamanashi (aka, the epicentre of the coming ice age)?
  7. Yesterday was sunny and 30C here. Today, rainy and a high of 18C (feels less now!) Not going to be nice I'm afraid!
  8. Was kept up most of the night by the wind but it wasn't too bad for us. Everything has passed now. No wind or rain but still some dark clouds hanging about. It's going to be a bit of a long sleepy day for me I'm afraid. Hope everyone else faired well.
  9. Did I mention it's a national holiday? He'd better double apologise issue! Or else!!
  10. The dickhead(my boss) who told us we should go home at 5pm(our usual time) today because there is a typhoon coming. He should be censed and apologise issue! Immediately!
  11. Not locals. Before they started running the direct shuttles it was only the 'core dudes and dudettes who would make the trip. Now it's a free-for-all for any meathead who can get up early enough.
  12. Dreadful match. I'm only watching now for the occasion camera shot of cute girls in the stands. Pathetic.
  13. I used to love Cortina. My wife and I were season pass holders and I even proposed to her there. Now it's so full of knuckleheads we almost never go. It has a lot to do with how much easier it's gotten to get there. Whatever, there are lots of places to go that are a lot better because they aren't nearly as crowded. (bitter!)
  14. Aren't all your players on international duty? Don't worry though, we have Japan v. Jamaica to entertain us!!
  15. The last typhoon (18) was a strange one. It literally rained super heavy for 24hrs before the wind arrived. Although it wasn't that strong, the rain meant a lot of flooding but what was worse was all the loose soil. Part of the Tokaido got covered by a landslide. Also, a really good friend of mine lives right at the bottom of Kanuki mountain and we are always worried for him and his family during those storms. It looks like there is a lot of rain forecast before this one arrive too so further landslide are a real possibility. Fingers crossed it's not as bad!
  16. I'll punch that ebola bastard right in the face!
  17. Yeah, the plan is to stay on the west coast of Izu I think. Might try a couple of spots between here and Omaezaki as well. The reason the foreign media is making such a big deal about this is because it must be a slow news day. Typhoons are always a lot more powerful when they are way way out in the pacific but by the time the make landfall on Honshu they are almost always downgraded. That's not to say that this one might not be bad... but making a call on how destructive it's going to be is impossible when it's still 100s of kilometers from shore. I have such a love hate relationsh
  18. Beauty start to the day. Looking forward to some super sweet swell this weekend. This slow moving typhoon is making it perfect for Saturday and Sunday... before we get obliterated by the storm again!
  19. Well, wind certainly isn't helpful. The only good thing about it is that it'll keep the frost away. You could do some stuff that grows close to the ground though like broccoli, cauliflower and beets.
  20. As long as they aren't spider-mites you should be good to go.
  21. The marines were actually taking pictures. A Darwin award for each of them.
