[Asahidake vs Kurodake trip advice]

Two of us are arriving in Hokkaido on March 22nd to do some ski touring for 8 days. We are interested in the Asahidake and Kurodake. I would appreciate any advice on staying / skiing in those two places from other backcountry / ski touring people who have been there. If you were going there, where would you ski? I suppose we could do both, but that takes travel time.

 

Also, any thoughts on Tokachidake as a ski touring destination would be great to here.

that sounds like a pretty solid idea. I will look into it.

A good thick rubber band will do the trick sometimes. Not nearly as handy as the nice straps, but it works if you cannot find those.

Hello,

 

I have been reading through these forums and they are great for getting a start before my first ski trip to Japan / Hokkaido.

 

Big question I cannot get a solid answer for:

 

I plan on skiing for 2 weeks first and then traveling for 2 weeks. I do not want to pack skis and all the snow gear around with me for those 2 weeks.

 

 

I understand there is Takkyubin service, but will they take it for 2 whole weeks? Has anybody done this before?

 

 

Ideally I would drop off the skis at the Sapporo airport and pick them up in Narita.

 

Would really appreciate some insight here!
