  1. Thanks (voted) best skier in hakuba - 2nd year running!! I can not wait to see them!!!
  2. I'm really hoping we can go see them in Feb when we're over. We're staying in Hakuba though so not sure how easy it'll be to get to SK - do any of you know??

If you stay at one of the many hotels in Narita City (rather than by the airport) then you can stagger back from there rather than taxi it, and you'll still only be under 10 minutes train ride from the airport in the morning. The Barge is only a few minutes' walk down the road fro
  4. Word of advice - scrape your board outside cause all those flakes of wax are a nightmare to clean up in the house!!!!
  5. Cheers skidaisuki - I'm not the most observant of peeps so this game of ‘hunt the auto teller’ will add another twist to our fortnight of fun!!!! Shinjuku was suggested by another mate who was there just a few weeks ago so I think we're gonna try and get a hotel there for the Thur & Fri night. Planning to move to a hotel near Narita on the Sat night, make sure we don't miss our flight!!!
  6. Wallas, we're doing it the other way round. Arrive on the 15th, straight up to Hakuba, then back to Tokyo on the 26th - figured it would be safer that way. Don't want to party ourselves into the ground before we've hit some of that snow!!!!
  7. Wow, they're great pics!! Anyone know if you can get there easily from Hakuba??
  8. 2pintsmate - thanks for that reality check! Cheers Gary, and everyone else, your advice will make our trip go much more smoothly. No switch is a pain, but cash is King there and their economy’s not in the state ours is (through any fault of their own) so I’ll not argue about it!!
  9. Wow, now that really is a dump!! I wish I was there already!! It's supposed to snow here this weekend so I’ll take what I can until we get out there
  10. Tubby Beaver - you're a star – thanks for your info, it’s been a great help. Turns out Docomo have coverage pretty much everywhere so phone reception, like you say, shouldn’t be a problem. Is it Feb yet?????
  11. Just called O2 and they have a roaming agreement with a Japanese company called DoComo, so as long as my phone can pick up that network I should be ok – it’s not cheap though!!! Probably best getting a Japanese pay as you talk sim card while I’m out there. Don’t suppose anyone knows anything about DoComo, like the reception in Hakuba?? Called my bank too, they said that Maestro is accepted in Japan – they can’t tell me where though. For all we know its 1 cash machine in a totally random place in Hokkaido!! Haha. Going to do some digging though. Hopefully I’ll find a ho
  12. Their bank machine's close???!! In THE land of technology I didn’t think anything would close!!!! And they don’t take Maestro – eek!!!! We knew cash is king in Japan, and are happy to carry great wads about cause we hear it’s a very safe place, but I was only panning taking out what I’d need for the next day or two. Anyone know if anywhere, machines or banks, in Hakuba takes Maestro??? The mobile thing might be a problem though. I’ve got epilepsy so can’t really be without it. I’ll call O2 and check it out – so thanks for that info. Cheers for the club
  13. Howdie all! Got our accommodation booked for Hakuba now, which is a bonus. We’ve got 3 nights in Tokyo after Hakuba and not a scoob about the place – any of you fine folks got anything to warn me about, or rave about of course?? Also, if you any of you guys have any suggestions about areas, that’d be sweet. We’d be looking for somewhere with lots of fun to be had, malls, restaurants, and clubs (of the Techno variety, not the karaoke kind!!!), anything you have to add would be brilliant. Ta muckle!!!
  14. I've never been in an onsen before and I can not wait to experience one. Shame that it’s only a bath (o-furo hehe) but I’m sure it’ll still be great to come home and soak for a bit after exploring their hills. Getting really excited about it all now!!!! We’ve got 3 nights in Tokyo after Hakuba so we’ve got to find accommodation for that now, think I’ll post another ‘help!’ request!
  15. Wallas & Hannasus - see you both there by the looks of things! Can't wait! Wallas, Thailand then Japan?! What a start to a year!!! Mr Wiggles - ta muckle for your reply. So long as it’s warm and clean then I’m happy.

Heaters are turned off at night from all reports from others who have stayed. You only get what you pay for. Hey Birdman Are you serious? They turn the heating off at night?? I'm prone to being more than a bit gullible so I’m going to tak
  17. Hey (voted) best skier in hakuba - 2nd year running! I did mean tabi-tabi – the question is, are you just being anal or did you actually want to check that I was talking about tabi-tabi before you spilled the beans?? I wonder…..
  18. Hey Wallas When you out there? We're out 15 - 26 Feb, then got a couple days in Tokyo before we head home again. I can not wait to get there....
  19. Hey there Hope you're all good!!!!! Looks like Lodge Tibi-Tibi is our accommodation choice for Feb. It's got its own park?!! Anyone stayed here before?? Cheers, Yappy
  20. Hmmmmm, kinda heard similar over the weekend. Shizzle. Might check out accomodation there instead then! Cheers for the info though
  21. Sure did!!! Thank goodness for freak depressions over Scandinavia!!! I only made it up the Lecht on Sunday, but my b/f was up on Friday and enjoyed some powder! Apparently Saturday was good too. Didn’t bother heading up to the Cairngorm as they weren’t running any of the tows so you had to come down to the middle satiation to get the funicular and, apparently, it was pretty narrow and patchy. The Lecht had great conditions. Fingers crossed it a sign of the season to come!!!!! You from Scotland, Tubby Beaver??
  22. Hello again!! Any of you stayed at, or even just heard anything about, the Villa Ichinose in Shiga Kogen?? Can't find any reviews of the place anywhere!!! Cheers, Yappy
  23. Thanks folks, you replies are appreciated. BagofCrisps - your write up is brilliant!! Looks like you had a fab time! Can not wait to get out there...... Woohoo!!!!
