MIZUHO HIGHLAND: New company takes over operation with a view to re-opening
The operators of Mizuho Highland 瑞穂ハイランドスキー場 in Shimane Prefecture went bankrupt in the spring of 2020 and it was not able to open during the 2020-2021 winter season.
There was a crowdfunding campaign in spring 2021 to try and help save the ski area. That seems to have raised over 6 million yen.
In some good news this week, a civil engineering company based in Hiroshima City has agreed to take over the ski area operation.
There are no details about re-opening yet, but hopefully Mizuho Highland might be able to re-open for the 2021-2022 winter season.
