Katashina & Kawaba Travel Guide - By train
The local Joetsu-sen train line stops at Numata Station and this is the closest train station to the ski and snowboard resorts in Katashina village. There is no train line that extends from Numata towards Katashina village.
This journey is around 41km and usually takes around 45-50 minutes.
The main Joetsu Shinkansen line connects central Tokyo (with stops at both Tokyo Station and Ueno Station) with Niigata City, stopping at Jomo Kogen Station in Minakami Town on the way. Jomo Kogen Station is a Shinkansen-only station and located in the southern part of Minakami Town, just to the north of Numata City.
This journey is around 152km and usually takes around 70 minutes.
