Introduction

Rusutsu Resort has long been the ‘secret’ jewel in the crown of Hokkaido’s winter sports scene. Despite being Hokkaido’s single largest winter resort, based around 3 mountains covering over 1,700 hectares (4,200 acres) of terrain, and being voted ‘Best Small Resort’ by The Great Skiing & Snowboarding Guide, Rusutsu has retained a distinctly Japanese feel in comparison to the neighbouring areas in Niseko. Rusutsu is also an hour closer to the airport than Niseko, a most welcome difference at the end of a long journey.

Rusutsu Resort has a wide range of accommodation options ranging from 2 floor suites in the 24-storey Rusutsu Tower to private Canadian-style log cabins. All offer ski-in ski-out to some of the best powder skiing found anywhere on the planet.

Treat yourself to the comfort and convenience of Rusutsu, you won’t regret it!

Mountains

The range and diversity of skiing at Rusutsu will keep any mix of skiers and boarders challenged and satisfied throughout their stay. There are 10 beginner courses to suit those looking for an ideal environment to pick up the sport, 16 intermediate courses and 11 advanced or expert rated courses to keep the more adventurous entertained. The courses are perfectly maintained with daily grooming.  And for those wishing to fine tune their skills, the terrain park features kickers, waves, rails and boxes.  However, the real fun comes with the multitude of off-piste options boasting tree runs and powder areas that will leave you giggling with exhilaration.

Lifts

One of the greatest advantages Rusutsu has is its unified high-speed covered lift and gondola system allowing easy navigation around the mountains. From right outside your accommodation, you will be transferred straight to the slopes on the 4 gondolas and 15 lifts (the majority of them covered) that ensure the only time you will be out in the open is when you are enjoying skiing down the mountains.

Facilities

As you would imagine with a resort of Rusutsu’s size, there are 1st class facilities throughout. Whether you are relaxing in one of the two natural hot springs after a day on the slopes, or eating in one of the numerous restaurants serving up delicious cuisines from all around the globe. There is also a shopping mall, an indoor wavepool, a 4D movie theatre, massage service and a sports complex for days when you prefer your activities to be based indoors.

Activities

There are a wealth of activities to keep you active and entertained during the winter season. From outdoor activities such as snowmobiling and dog-sledding, to the indoor pursuits of arts and crafts. Whatever your interests, there is bound to be something to peak your curiosity.

Apres Ski

In addition to the great choice of dining options and relaxing hot springs, there are also seasonal firework displays, karaoke and a sports bar to help you while away those winter evenings.

Accommodation

Rusutsu has the capacity to accommodate over 3000 guests in a wide range of grades and styles. As reflected in the resort being chosen to host the world’s press during the 2008 G8 Summit, all the options, ranging from the luxury suites to the recently renovated authentic Canadian log cabins, offer the highest in standards of comfort and amenities.
