Gokase Highland is located in Gokase town in Miyazaki Prefecture, central Kyushu. It is the most southern ski hill in Japan and found on the north-eastern slopes of Mt Mukozaka. At first it was thought that a ski hill with natural snow in this central Kyushu location would not be possible...but it happened, with Gokase Highland opening in 1990.

Gokase Highland is the only ski hill in Miyazaki Prefecture and one of only a few on the island of Kyushu. Kyushu is the third largest island of Japan and most south-westerly of the four main islands.

IMPORTANT! PLEASE READ
We are still in the process of checking and updating ski resort information for the upcoming 2017-2018 ski season. Many ski hills do not update their own official information until November and hopefully most of our updates will be done by the end of this month. If planned opening dates have not yet been updated for a particular ski hill, note that most usually open around the same time each season. Message updated on 14th November 2017.
