Izumigatake is located on the south-eastern slopes of Mt Izumigatake to the north-west of central Sendai city in the western region of central Miyagi Prefecture. It can be seen from Sendai city on a clear day. The Spring Valley Izumi Kogen ski hill is located just to the north on the same mountain.

Miyagi Prefecture is part of the northern Tohoku region of the main island of Honshu. It has a long Pacific coastline and is bordered with Iwate Prefecture to the north, Yamagata Prefecture to the west and Fukushima Prefecture to the south. The ski hills in Miyagi Prefecture are found in the mountainous regions stretching from the north to south of the western region of the prefecture.

Izumigatake is about 14km from the Izumi Smart IC exit on the Tohoku Expressway and just over 22km from the Sendai Miyagi IC exit.

From Sendai head in a north westerly direction on Route 457 and then Prefecture Road 223 to reach the ski hill.

There is parking available at the base of Izumigatake. Parking is free on weekdays and 500 yen on weekends and holidays.
