Swiss Village Ski Resort is a small ski hill located in the most northerly part of Kyoto on the southern slopes of Mt Taiko. It is popular with families with young children with 60% of the courses labelled as beginner.
Kyoto-fu is a prefecture (though not named with '-ken' like most others) in the Kansai region of Honshu. Kyoto city is the famous capital, but Kyoto-fu actually stretches from a coastline on the Sea of Japan in the north-west to a border with Osaka and Nara-ken in the south-east. This long length means that the climate is quite different in the north and south.
