Well well well in my opinion, 4200 yen for one day is little bit expensive for Tanbara.

It was my first time there (usually I go to Ishiuchi<-Great place) but tired this time so I wanted to find a place near Numata IC. The place is really small, so crowded (also week days so I can't imagine during week-ends) courses are not so different so it's better to take a morning pass, if you stayed there all the day, maybe you'll

Good for beginners or families with young children. most courses were icy.

The weather was clear and the temp was quite warm. Managed to have some good fun between the trees in the afternnon.

Not the place for an experienced person wanting to improve their skills.

Coming from Ikebukero, Tanbara is an easy option, I think they even do tours from Kawagoe, so it's just a matter of jumping on the bus and going.

If you want to go snowboarding and you don't wan't to blow too much cash.

Tanbara is a good option

Didn't have a very good time, mainly because there wasn't much snow and the slopes weren't very steep.

I went on a Saturday for just one day. It was really busy with lots of low level skiers and riders.

The snow was good but we found no-where to really let rip.

Everywhere is really slow and shallow so pretty dull. Some ok tree runs but they're short and slow.

The 'kickers' are badly shaped with short landings and really slow run ups. no rails when I went.

I wouldn't recommend this to anyone but learners.

It's a small, shallow resort.

A good variety for both the freestyler and free rider.

Plenty of jumps. I've yet to see the half-pipe they claim to have. The rights side off the lift provides a nice bank all the back to the bottom. There are also some short runs through the trees. If you haven't got transport, there are bus tours that leave Ikebukuro in the am and arrive back by 9:00pm. Certain days you can make the trip for

Positives first:

Nice powder runs through the trees and under the lifts but nothing steep. (Lifties weren't too anal.)

Loads of consecutive jumps if that's what your into.

Negatives:

Be very wary of any field with the word "park" in its name.

Where are the slopes?

The first lift is completely flat which means the skiable field is only half as big as it looks on the map.

Don't bother

Tanbara, Gunma is a very easy drive from Tokyo (170km from Meguro) 19km from Kansetsu Expressway (take your chains with you).

It is perfect for 1 day.

Tanbara is a modern medium sized, board/ski-park. There are Perfect Funparks with many jumps. The slopes are wide and very easy for beginners. Relaxed atmosphere, and very good restaurants. Try to get a Tokyu Resort Pamphlet, then you get a free 1000yen lunch in one of the restaurants.

There no hotels in the
