Takasu Snow Park review
Took the night bus from Kyoto and ended up there early in the morning. Got our stuff, lift tickets, and headed out. Bathrooms were incredibly crowded with all those who had just gotten off the bus. Changing rooms were closet-sized. Rentals were good quality and in good condition.

Early in the morning it was not all that crowded and we were able to get some good runs in. The restaurant at the top was

Although it only took 2 hours to get there form Kyoto, it took nearly 6 hours to get back. Traffic was a nightmare. A single lane road to to the highway with 5 other ski resorts emptying their parking lots onto this road at the same time (we left at 3pm to try to beat the traffic) made this trip seem a lot worse than it actually was.

The mountain is good, good variety of terrain for varying abilities, and lots

Great compared to other resorts like mt heavens and araragana (nagano prefecture). Runs are long enough.

Tough to know which run you want unless you can read katakana.

Went down champion run which was a mistake since i'm only a beginner.

Survived with a few bruises so no big complaint really

I like this resort as well as Dynaland.

Like Dynaland, it can get real busy on weekends, but if you go when it is less busy its a fine place for both skiers and snowboarders

I would imagine this is probably the best in the area, if not the whole prefecture.

Good variety in courses, and good tree runs without the rope-off-the-whole-mountain mentality.

Seems like you could pretty much go anywhere and nobody cared--yeah! Good amount of snow, too

Spent a few days both here and Dynaland and was great.

During the week, so not so crowded which is important for me with a keen 5 yr. old. Speaking of, the kids school was VG. Nice staff who related well and knew their stuff. Not expensive and as we went mid-week only snobee-chan in the class it became cheap private lessons. Good kids gelende & facilities.

Terrain is varied and interesting with some nice long runs. Lots of folks slide

BC Bum said it quite nicely... I too have been "holding back," but since it appears that every other person that heads to Takasu hits every inch of the resort, might as well add my 2-cents (again). I've been going to this resort since it opened, and last season (01~02) I noticed that every spec of rideable (and non-ridable for that matter) was carved out, forcing me to seek other areas I hadn't ventured prior to last season.

Biggest in West Japan. Lots of steep (albeit short) runs with some nice "thru the trees" runs.

Nice on a powder day.

For beginners it can be a bit boring, only really one real beginner run, and after you've mastered that, you have to step up to the mid-level runs, which sometimes can be a bit steep.

Also, a bit expensive with no morning ticket available.

A great little place to carve up! On weekdays it's not so busy, and there's some tasty runs to explore. The halfpipe/park is cool. This place is more like a 90/10 mix for snowboarders. I'll be visiting again.

Ok the low down..

I have been holding back this year trying my best to hoard this little gem. Takasu is new 2 nice half pipes and trees. Now tree sking is frowned on but they are pretty relaxed and say, well not much. At first sight you think that only the top is skiable but every single place with trees is doable, getting some short shots of 50% degree or so. Lots of natural hits and smalldrops down low.
