Don't Bother
Eastern Nagano resorts are sadly pretty poor for snow.

Even those up at 2000m get very little, and what does fall is usually blown off by the strong winds.

This is one of my local resorts but there is little reason to visit. Local skiers come here in late Autumn for some early practice but all the snow is machine made and unpleasant to ride on.

If you REALLY need to ski/board while in the area I'd recommend Sugadaira or Yunomaru nearby

This keeps the temperature down and makes for very good snow conditions.

There was fresh snow the day I went (Jan 4 2002) and it was on a par with anywhere else I've been (Hakuba, Niseko, Shiga). However it is
