Shiga Kogen Yokoteyama review by lachystar
3 lifts available for boarders at the bottom of the park but they are all seperated and short.

I found the runs on the map differed a lot to the actual courses on the field so I could be wrong but there's one lift for boarders at the top of Yokoteyama.

Shibutoge.

Its ok to board here but you can't get to it unless you're a skier.

Basically, if you're a boarder, get a hotel on close to Tanne no Mori-Okojo.

Really nice small field.

I felt like Alice in Wonderland up there.

The off piste terrain isn't steep but its technical and full of surprises.

This was my favourite part of Shiga Kogen

I had my best run of the season so far at the Ichinose-family field.

Take lift 23 and come down underneath it all the way. It's undulating and ungroomed.

Also there are some nice drops off the cat tracks and some great snow in the trees

Tanbara Ski Park review by lachystar
Positives first:

Nice powder runs through the trees and under the lifts but nothing steep. (Lifties weren't too anal.)

Loads of consecutive jumps if that's what your into.

Negatives:

Be very wary of any field with the word "park" in its name.

Where are the slopes?

The first lift is completely flat which means the skiable field is only half as big as it looks on the map.

Don't bother

GALA Yuzawa review by lackystar
The snow just kept falling and there was plenty of consistently knee deep runs to be had.

No need to go off piste but we did anyway:) The half pipe was closed as it was full of snow. Gala is not really steep enough for boarding in these conditions and the snow was a little heavy. Guarenteed walks. If you can stand the weather I recommend buying a Shinkansen/ski package and going when its snowing. If the field is closed

Hakuba Goryu review by lachystar
Mabey I would have loved this field on a quiet day with fresh snow but it was freak'n chaotic. Serves me right for going at peak season.

The better looking runs were covered with moguls making for hard work.

The access runs are narrow and crowded.

The best thing is that if you're a boarder looking to hang out and try a few rail slides and jumps then don't buy a ticket. The boardpark is 5mins walk up the slope

Peak season, big crowds, old snow. Lots of Moguls. Great board park. Runs through the trees.

Good Ramen.

Boring long green run to the bottom

Great snow. Good variety of gradient. We only skied three runs 'cause the rest was closed in cloud but I'd like to go back for sure.

Nice euro style lodges too.
