f you're a terminal intermediate, with no interest in pushing yourself beyond cruising slopes, and you have more money than sense, and you don't mind interminable flat runouts, and you've spent at least 100,000 yen on a flourescent pink ski jacket with a slick-wet finish, and you don't understand when every last run on the mountain isn't groomed flat -- well, Appi just might be the place for you

Haven't been to Kamui in a few years, but made a couple of dozen trips there in the 90s, booking cheap packages that included flight, downtown Asahikawa hotel & bus.

Great ski area for anyone in the range of beginner to upper intermediate; not too interesting for experts. Can be a bit cold if the wind is kicking up, but scenic and typically good snow. Yo-yo'ing the gondola can be a lot of fun, but the runout toward the bottom of

Seriously, except for the overly long cat tracks to get to Skyline and Gyu-kubi, Nozawa is easily the best skiing in Honshu.

And pace my boarding friends, I'm not about to give away the mountain's best powder stashes -- you'll have to keep up or explore on your own
